carusoam Posted November 3, 2019 Report Posted November 3, 2019 Turning on gravity is just the first step... Carry on! -a- 2 Quote
carusoam Posted November 3, 2019 Report Posted November 3, 2019 While you have it open... Have you considered the large J style side windows? Had to help spend the OPM... Best regards, -a- 1 1 Quote
M20F-1968 Posted November 3, 2019 Report Posted November 3, 2019 Now is the time to clean everything up, take care of any surface corrosion, take out old insulation, get rid of the plaster-like stuff they put on the skins if you can and epoxy paint the interior. I have a 1968 F, pictures are attached of the interior before we started rebuilding. You only get one chance to do this. Then we starting rebuilding it into a new model Mooney. MIm20c Posted November 3, 2019 Report Posted November 3, 2019 @M20F-1968 Wow, amazing job on that rehab project! You really took it down to the bones. Quote
cctsurf Posted November 4, 2019 Report Posted November 4, 2019 I've been tempted to do this, but my small project is stretching out far longer than I would like, so its getting buttoned up asap and back to the good stuff...flying. Quote
EDNR-Cruiser Posted November 6, 2019 Report Posted November 6, 2019 It's really worth to keep a vintage model up to date... - where ever I go, nobody wants to believe that my Green Lady went airborne in November 1966... 6 Quote
cliffy Posted November 6, 2019 Report Posted November 6, 2019 Hey how did you get my stool in your airplane? I had it in mine last week :-) 1 Quote
Immelman Posted November 6, 2019 Report Posted November 6, 2019 If its that much apart: Consider changing your engine control cables if original.. see other threads re: throttle cable broke.... my mixture cable broke a while back.... windows seats and panels are nice and all, but dont keep the prop turning... 1 Quote

That's a pretty bird. I did the one-piece windows to my '68 in July, no regerts. I'm planning the cowling mod as well. I covet your wingtips, but it looks like they aren't available anymore :-( If I hit the lotto, I'll by a TBM - and I'll have my Mooney refurbished so it looks like it came out of the factory yesterday. 1 Quote

This is exactly what I am going for. I want a nice updated M20F. I love the way it flies. It just needed some big updates. Quote
Bob_Belville Posted November 9, 2019 Report Posted November 9, 2019 @LunkenPilot, is it really a '66F? There were only 3 built that year, ser # 660001-660003. Planes are like automobiles, a '67 model may have been built and certified in '66. '67 is thought of as the first year for the mid body, 536 were built that year, ser 670001-670539. Quote
Captnmack Posted November 11, 2019 Report Posted November 11, 2019 Yeah, I had the same vision except I keep going down Rabbit Holes...I’m good at taking stuff apart. Now, if I can only get Mooneyvated to start going the other way! I PLAN on replacing EVERYTHING that is/was 50 years old.. 2 Quote
cliffy Posted November 11, 2019 Report Posted November 11, 2019 Captnmac- I can always put something back together with less parts than the guy that designed it! :-) I think we have very similar paint jobs by way of your wingtip photo 1 1 Quote

Marauder Posted November 12, 2019 Report Posted November 12, 2019 Or was that nightmares? I am not sure anymore, it all was a big blur with my wallet being replaced from opening it so many times... Quote

67 m20F chump Posted November 26, 2019 Report Posted November 26, 2019 I’m in the process of doing the same job. Went with 30P+C, 2 G5’s, a 530w, L3 transponder. It’s going slow and I keep coming up with side projects like moving the breaker panel but I am making progress. Keep posting your pics and good luck! Quote
Raptor05121 Posted November 26, 2019 Report Posted November 26, 2019 Entire interior gone? Time for zinc chromate. Cheap to apply and peace of mind and would be easier selling it down the road. See if your mechanic can do this 1 Quote
LunkenPilot Posted July 27, 2020 Author Report Posted July 27, 2020 That took a bit of time...but I am happy with how it turned out.... N9595M_Restoration.mp4 3 Quote
