28 volt Voltage Regulator

Per my previous thread, Puff of smoke, electrical smell.

Thanks to all who answered.

I am collecting info, just in case it is the voltage regulator. 

However, between the Mooney Parts manual, The Mooney Retrofir kit.pdf, searches on this forum, and the FAA Aircraft Specifications #2A3, I have come up with five different numbers.

And in my searches I find no cross reference sheets.

Fun meter is starting to peg out, and they are probably in front of me somewhere.

So, does anyone have a good and current manufacturer and part number for a 1989 M20J, 28-volt voltage regulator?

I think Zeftronics makes the one I had installed about 9 years ago. Call LASAR.

I don't think Zeftronics has anything approved for the 28V systems.

But the IPC part no's should be good and LASAR can tell you your options.

Also their is a repair station in NY that can repair all our 28V regulators - Consolidated Aircraft Supply https://www.consolac.com/ they're not cheap but nor is the cost of replacing Mooney regulators.

My bird is the 14 volt 77 J. As stated earlier, today, the burden of being frequently correct is a heavy one.

It’s fun and takes additional effort to follow-up with what MSers write...

So I went to the Zeftronics site and typed Mooney into the search...

It echoed back a 12v and a 24v device... without any verification of what it was proper for...

My M20C got a 12v Zeftronics device... a huge step up from the original device...

The 24v device is compact... as expected, and very costly too...

The Mooney part number is listed here, under the specs tab... MOONEY: C611005‐0101  (?)

Further exploration would be required to match the device to the application...
