Bushings can’t be bought in the correct length? This should work and you save shipping by buying both at the same time.

Probably wouldn't even need to be brass. For $1 each, this should work:

My vote for best edit of the year.  :)  Thanks.  I ordered these and will be sending back the home depot (sawing project) bushings.  Scott

Maybe an ignorant question.   I searched through this thread and it doesn't seem to have been discussed.

What log book entry is required if owner produced seat rollers are installed?   Is that something that requires an A&P sign off?

Any OPP part requires documentation from the producer (e.g., you) commemorating the production, and then a record from the installer indicating that it is suitable for installation and correctly installed.   Whether a seat roller falls under Preventive Maintenance and can be installed by the owner is kind of grey since the FAA says the list of PM tasks in the regs is "not comprehensive".   My usual advice is that if your IA is good with it then there should be no issue.

Yeah, when I reupholstered my seats with the Airtex set, that's when I also replaced the rollers.  My AI entered the Airtex seats and really liked the nylon rollers but didn't see a need to mention them.

Hopefully, this helps complete this thread, it’s been a good one. I received the spacers and felt the slop was too much for me. So, I placed an index mark on the edge of the spacer where the tape began and found out that 3 revolutions of 3M Super33 black tape (used also for the Britain servos) created a very snug fit. I inserted the spacer by twisting the spacer into the roller and then trimmed off the excess tape. I haven’t installed the rollers yet but look forward to the improvement.

It's too soon to know the longevity of the rollers I installed. The tracks are clean and the seats roll with ease. I like the idea of a metal bushing making contact with the bolt vs. just the molded part but it might not matter because how often are the seats being moved up and down the tracks? I would think the weight of the person in the seat impacts the roller's longevity most.

These still working?  I might need to make some.  Lasar doesn’t have any real ones and my new plane needs them.

@DonMuncy makes them.

I do have one complaint about hit.  They work so well that if you are just sitting there and release the seat latch, you are IMMEDIATELY all the way back. :D

@Ragsf15e PM me your address and I am happy to send you a set of Grainger sourced bushings and rollers noted earlier in the thread. I didn't pay attention to the quantity per order and way over bought. I assume you need 8 for both seats?

I installed the Grainger ones earlier this year on the passenger side and have had no problem so far. My original rollers weren't that worn, but these do glide a little better. I had ordered only the pilot side from Lasar last year and the quality of the roll and fit is imperceptible between the two.

Lasar may have them even though they do not show on the website as available. It is worth calling them. May save you time and effort to make your own. I got a set recently from Lasar.

Interesting that you got some from Lasar?  I don’t even bother with their website anymore.  I emailed the parts department back in march and again last week.  Both times they replied and told me they didn’t have any and didn’t know when they would.

Looks like my recollection of timing was not very good when I said "recently" :) Turns out I bought them in early 2024. Time flies when you are having fun. Apologies for the error.

Did you ask about the overly expensive Mooney factory rollers? I was waiting on them, and seat rails, for a few months.  I spoke to Heather at LASAR and I thought she mentioned that they had put in a big order of Mooney manufactured rollers and were expecting them soon.  That was probably over a month ago, though.

Hmm, I thought they came from Don.  Let me check

Yeap, I bought them on Sept 27, 2022 from @DonMuncy

Pinecone. Please double (triple/quadruple) check. I have never made or sold any. At one time or another, I may have looked under my seat and seen one, but otherwise I don't ever remember laying eyes on one.
