if its on Craigs list you might want to have the PPI done at the local police station so you dont get robbed other wise looks like a nice 201

You can also counter his $95K asking price with an offer for $17k cash.  That's typical on craigslist.

I think he was quoting the original sales department performance numbers. Only slightly hyperbolic. :)

Are you suggesting that they don't really go that fast?

I had two partners once (2 months) I don't recommend it. Every time I got In my mooney after they flew something new was wrong with it and they both blamed me. It seemed like I was in charge of the care of the plane and they just flew it. When looking for a partner it better not be

1. Family

2. Non pilots

3. Two friends (you being the oddball)

what I would look for if I wanted a partner

1. Someone that loves and has time in mooneys

2. A flight instructor

3. A previous aircraft owner

4. An A&P

5. Someone that is willing to help with washing, and pilot maintenance.

Like said previously, finding a good partner is like finding a good partner in a relationship.

Too much funk to be comfortable...

1) The price is full market price.

2) Controller and Trade-a-Plane are the usual Ad rags where planes get sold.  eBay is where unloved and discounted planes hang out...  Craig's list is for the free to a good home, isn't it?

3) When selling something, it is tradition to take the cover off, before snapping for sale pictures.

4) When the time comes that the seller's market is upon us,  This is the sign...! :)

Best regards,

From POH:
9.4 161 2600 8000 at 2300lbs
Assuming minimal fuel and smaller pilot, probably could get it to 165.
But only if you have 25 degree timing, strip the antennas, wait for a dry, cold winter day, wax the plane...

I'm thinking that even a PA24-400 has lost a step or two in 50 years.

Not in my case, mine seems to actually be faster than book speeds.  North of 190ktas under 10,000' is the norm.

Hum, @ 194 ktas max and 185 ktas cruise were the Comanche performance claims more conservative than the '60s era Mooneys? 190 ktas doesn't seem all that unrealistic when you consider you have twice as many ponies as my 159 ktas M20E from the same time. Your power to MGW ratio is 43% higher. (53% higher than a heavier M20J)
