Annual #2 has finally come to a conclusion!  It only took 1.5 months, but there was a 10 day vacation thrown in as well as having to go to work... to pay for the annual.

She flies better than ever now!  The rigging is pretty darn close.  The gear comes down and locks like it is supposed to.  Brake rotation STC done correctly.  Cowl closure installed.  ADF antenna gone.  Trim no longer binds.  PC cutoff switch installed.  That is one of the best mods so far.  A real pleasure to fly with the PC disabled!

As far as changes in speed with the mods...  On the short flight today.  3500ft, 23/23. I got 140kt true using the three heading method.  This is up a solid 5kt!  Although not quantifiable, it does seem a bit quieter.  I can't say it was all the closure that did it, but it certainly helped.  In addition to the closure, I removed the huge ADF antenna and got the brakes up out of the wind.

As time goes on, I will see what my average TAS turns out to be at higher altitudes.

For now, it is nice to have it done.  Cost was minimal, there was just a lot of time consuming things to fix; mostly from previous "mechanics."

Many thanks to my IA for everything including painting the closure to match and imparting his knowledge to me.  I LOVE learning new stuff!

Very awesome. I am envious of you. Are those deicing boots on the wings?

No.  It's some kind of paint.  It feels thicker and slightly rubbery.  I kind of equate it to the "invisible bra" for a car.

Now if we could get rid of the boomerang on top.. Mine still has it as well. I mentioned getting rid of it to my AP and he just rolled his eyes. So to say the least it is still there :(

Your enclosure looks great..Enjoy :)

You mean the "600 knot antenna"? I had two at one time.

Did your airplane go 600 knots when you had the antennas on it? Actually, since you had two of them, it should have gone 1200 knots!

Nope. I thinking the marketing pitch was you could still communicate in your Mooney even if you were in a vertical dive.

The PO replaced it with the GPS puck. My blade antennas are both behind where the canopy cover goes on when traveling.

Are those antenna's stock? Mine has thin wire antenna, looks to be a lot less drag than those.

The boomerang is likely less draggy than your wire style antenna.

Nice bird and great job fixing her up. No better feeling of satisfaction than working and learning as you go!

My wire antenna is about 3/16th of an inch wide. AircraftSpruce has two close matches to his and mine, it shows the wire antenna at .058lbs/250mph drag with the boomerang at 0.83lbs/250mph drag.

My E has two--Buck and Flash often ask for a ride. They like the automatic step as well since they are older than I am.

For you youngsters...
