I'm hoping to get in a proper speed run test and that time to climb test you all were doing awhile back, over the upcoming holidays. I'm pretty sure that if I don't care about fuel burn and push hard ROP around 11gph, I can go faster than 150kts TAS.  If I lean it back to LOP as far as I can and still have a smooth running engine, I'll still be faster than 140kts.

You know we can't have the "C crowd" on here bragging about their superior fuel consumption AND speed. ;)

Not sure about that, but I will put my M20C up against ANY airplane in the most important performance standard:. MP$ (miles per dollar).

It leads just based on acquisition price, if you throw in maintenance and maintenance reserves, it's the winner hands down.

I'll be very interested to see your results Paul. The numbers you're looking for would be awesome. I do know you have a sweet C.

Yeah, I know. Mooney owners are a competitive bunch! They want both speed and fuel economy.:)

And really cheap maintenance!

Don't forget to subtract the sales price, otherwise the cheapest airplane would almost always win. If you do that, I think all NA lycoming 4 cyl would end up roughly the same.

Zombie thread alert. This came up in the current discussion of J speeds. I was just wondering if the original poster ever had a resolution to his problem

I have not solved the problem yet, but I do suspect a worn cam or fuel flow issue. I will verify the camshaft soon. It's either going to be good or not. If it is good, then something with fuel flow. This has been very time consuming and expensive
