We have a very distructive wild fire burning in the El Cajon pass area and news reports tell of air attack having to stand down due to drones flying in the airspace. This is the third time this season that this has happened and even a few minutes delay could allow what was a managible fire to turn into a major outbreak. Stupid is as stupid does.

Wow. What blatant disregard for an emergency situation! Each and every drone operator that is found to be in willful violation of the obvious TFR should be prosecuted just as any manned aircraft's pilot would be. Ignorance of the law is no excuse.

LASAR attacks... Of modded and PMA'd mooney parts.

In all seriousness it will be too soon when some idiot with a drone takes down an aircraft. Violations of The FARs should be prosecuted t the fullest extend possible with regard to UAVs or to the same extent as manned aircraft.

A fairly simple fix would be a pressure transducer connected to the battery. If the thing goes over say 200' it turns off the power.

"I don't know much about drone operations, but why place blame on the individual operators? Aren't they just complying with orders from senior brass?"

I don't believe military drones are being faulted in this discussion. I believe this is about recreational/civilian drones/RCs getting in the away of emergency operations.

That may help with most people but the true A holes will find a way to create a work around.

Don't leave the media and paparazzi out. Anything for a buck, right? If one yahoo takes out a firefighting plane, the other yahoos will just have more video to sell . . . .

FAA needs a drone with a big net and just fly around scooping up these things.  People will start learning when they loose their +$1k contraption.
