par Posted March 29, 2015 Report Posted March 29, 2015 When is it necessary? If you are being serious, do you really need someone to break this down for you? 1 Quote
MyNameIsNobody Posted March 29, 2015 Report Posted March 29, 2015 Violence is necessary and appropriate for a police officer to use violence to subdue a perp that is resisting, when protecting your home from a robber, when bouncing a drunk out of a bar, when serving your country etc. This is why martial arts exists, to practice committing violent acts against other people for legitimate reasons. Hank Posted March 29, 2015 Report Posted March 29, 2015 If you are being serious, do you really need someone to break this down for you? Some people would say that violence is never necessary. They typically have little life experience, and live in blissful ignorance of the military strength that gave them (and protects) their lifestyle. When someone is determined to harm you, either suffer in silence or beat them off, cause they won't listen to you try to talk them out of it. 2 Quote

Well, I may stop myself from beating them off... Might send a mixed message... Sorry, couldn't resist. 4 Quote

ryoder Posted March 29, 2015 Report Posted March 29, 2015 Hank I don't think you got it... Its 8th grade humor. My favorite kind, 1 Quote
Hank Posted March 29, 2015 Report Posted March 29, 2015 yeah, I got the groaner there. Bad, bad typing on my part, but I was sleepy yesterday after >2 hours in the bumps with a CFII. Havent been flying enough lately, trying to knock some rust off. I still say, if you're too tired to fight, or there's too many of 'em coming at you, pick 'em off one at a time. A little time at the firing range with your favorite hand gun may pay off one day. Or live in your idyllic dream world . . . "When seconds count, the police are just minutes away." Back to the crash, what's the latest news? I missed everything yesterday, time to go check. Wonder why everyone is afraid to mention what the FO was being treated for? Sure, doctor-patient confidentiality and all, but people are dead because of it. It will come out sooner or later. 2 Quote
bonal Posted March 29, 2015 Report Posted March 29, 2015 Latest news. I saw was that he had a vision problem that would have been a disqualification on his flight status but I think more to it than that Quote
flyboy0681 Posted March 31, 2015 Report Posted March 31, 2015 We are now exactly one week into this and sadly the case has pretty much been solved. Going back over the early posts the speculation covered everything from incapacity due to heart attack, recent maintenance problems, blocked pitot, uncommanded pitch changes to union strife. This is why I don't speculate, because I don't know any more about these tragedies than the next guy and once the real cause comes out, the speculation isn't worth squat. Although I must admit, I do learn a lot about large plane systems from the experts here. Quote
Mooneymite Posted March 31, 2015 Report Posted March 31, 2015 Yeah! I hate to speculate on crashes where the black boxes have been recovered...way too much factual information. I far prefer mis-haps like MH370 where my guess is about as good as anyone elses! Quote
