Marauder Posted December 22, 2014 Report Posted December 22, 2014 Sorry I meant under the water, weak joke. Must be a boater's joke...
rbridges Posted December 22, 2014 Report Posted December 22, 2014 with the tail sticking out of the water, we need to play some "Jaws" music.

Hank Posted December 22, 2014 Report Posted December 22, 2014 Been registered to Air America Flying LLC since 2008. No information on the pilot yet.
FloridaMan Posted December 22, 2014 Report Posted December 22, 2014 Remember, if you have to ditch in cold water, you will have no control over holding your breath and you will start to gasp. You must be ready to paw for the surface as you will start to inhale water immediately. 1
jkhirsch Posted December 22, 2014 Report Posted December 22, 2014 Does synthetic vision include channel details. Or does that cost extra I thought it was a good joke.
N33GG Posted December 23, 2014 Report Posted December 23, 2014 A little ACF-50 and some CamGuard. She'll be better than new. "NDH" Nah, I'd skip the ACF-50 and CamGuard. The Buyer can pay for that if he/she wants! Caveat emptor! :-)
Alan Fox Posted December 23, 2014 Report Posted December 23, 2014 Actually , if the plane was landed gear up , and repaired by a factory service center , It can legally be a NDH plane......Pretty scary huh.....
Alan Fox Posted December 23, 2014 Report Posted December 23, 2014 Probably worth more in parts.....I prefer to take em down , less liability , and less time to finish.....
mooniac15u Posted December 24, 2014 Report Posted December 24, 2014 Here's positive aspect of the story... http://abc7chicago.com/news/boy-scouts-come-to-the-rescue-after-plane-crash/446580/
bonal Posted December 24, 2014 Report Posted December 24, 2014 I was in scouting as a kid and am amazed how much of the skills I use to this day I learned when I was a scout. A great organization
PMcClure Posted December 24, 2014 Report Posted December 24, 2014 Scouting is great. As a 17 year old boy, I got to lead over 100 scouts as Sr. Patrol leader. Talk about good training!! Any applicant who has Eagle Scout (or wrestler) on their resume gets a second look from me. I wonder what percentage of pilots are scouts. Bet it is more than the "civilian" population.
bonal Posted December 24, 2014 Report Posted December 24, 2014 I wonder if they have a flying or aviation merit badge. Made it to life but not eagle.
DonMuncy Posted December 24, 2014 Report Posted December 24, 2014 Yes, they have an aviation merit badge. I left the area where I grew up when I was 15 and did not re-enter the scouts.
Hank Posted December 25, 2014 Report Posted December 25, 2014 Yes, there is an aviation merit badge. As a former Scout and Scoutmaster, I looked into being a merit badge counsellor for Aviation merit badge. Registration to fly the scouts is almost as difficult as getting your first passport, while flying Young Eagles in comparison is like signing up for a webinar. It's really a shame, how difficult BSA makes it, as it runs off many prospective pilots who initially offer to fly the boys. Having just moved, I don't know any area troops. Heck, I've only met three local pilots . . .
jetdriven Posted December 25, 2014 Report Posted December 25, 2014 A litle ACF-50 and some CamGuard. She'll be better than new. "NDH" Jerry Pressley will have it for sale as a NDH cream puff any day now. 1
N33GG Posted December 25, 2014 Report Posted December 25, 2014 I earned the aviation merit badge, a long time ago. At a flight instructor refresher clinic, they asked for a show of hands on several categories, including scouting, to show how much pilots tended to be the same. Very interesting. After each category, they gave the percentage of the population that would be in, and compared it to the show of hands. Yep, we are a pretty homogeneous group. That's HOMOGENEOUS...
Hank Posted December 26, 2014 Report Posted December 26, 2014 At least we're not homogenized. Too warm for me . . . It does make it easier to blend in when traveling. Maybe that's why most people at airports around the country seem so nice, because we're all alike?
xcrmckenna Posted December 28, 2014 Report Posted December 28, 2014 First thing I thought of after reading he was safe was the movie Hatchet.
DrBill Posted December 28, 2014 Report Posted December 28, 2014 As an Eagle scout and aviation merit badge counselor, we don't take the kids flying. It's not part of the requirements. They visit the airport and we have them get in the pilots seat and id all the required instruments. Teaching First Aid merit badge for 20 years may have saved my life in July when I had a surprise heart attack. I woke up with all three symptoms we teach the kids (chest pressure, sweating, numbness on left side) at 620AM one day. Called 911 and by 820 I was in my hosp room AFTER the stent procedure was completed. The Ambulance from the local volunteer fire dept made it to the hosp in 14 mins leaving my driveway at 650. It's 12 miles ! and of course rush hour. Some things you just never forget!! Bill
