This mooney has bladders. Is there any way to install "fuel tabs"? Useful fuel load is 54 gallons. Is there any way to measure with a fuel tube to know how many gallons are in the tank. Would like to fly with less than full fuel but know exactly how many gallons are in the tanks.

I have the 54 gal bladders in my E. I also have a fuel totalizer that is very accurate. (JPI EDM 930.) But I also have a pipette style fuel gauge like this:  www.sportys.com/PilotShop/product/9334

Mine is marked for a Cessna 152 but a previous owner had created a chart to cross reference it to the Mooney.

A paint stick and a sharpie marker can be used to create your own from an empty tank.

I just remembered we'd had this thread before and the cheap ba***rds had the most elegant solution.

Empty one tank fill it to the desired level then fabricate a device that hangs on the surface of the wing and bend the tab at the height of the fuel.  Not permanent but if you make 2 of them even if a lineman is fueling the plane you can take the caps off and put the tab in and tell him to fill to the tab and not to put the caps on.

I have a JPI 450 (bought from Bob B) and it's within a TENTH of a GALLON.   However I made some fuel dip sticks and calibrated them when the tank was used up.   It's a wooden dowel with a piece of 1/4 in clear tube attached.  Stick in the tank, put finger over end of tube and pull out.  The fuel remains in tube and indicates how much is in the tank.  I'll take some pics next time to the airport.
