I'm looking for good finance and insurance recommendations for my future Mooney purchase.

I've setup the prebuy annual for a 252 that I really like instead of the Rocket. Also to protect against fraud, what title and escrow service do you recommend as part of the buying process?

Thanks

Awesome thanks! Well the insurance on a Mooney 252 is way less than other makes considered such as Beechcraft and Cessna 182 which surprised me. Guess Mooney pilots are more cautious and don't make as many gear up landings as Bo drivers.

I do t think it's so much the pilots as the airplane. Bonanzas built before 1984 have the switches hidden by the crossover bar on the yoke. That plus the gear is on the right side of the panel and most pilots learn to fool with flaps on the rollout, they grab the gear handle instead. If you have a rule to not touch anything on the runway it greatly lessens the likelihood of a mishap.

True and could be the actuarial data that are responsible for much higher insurance rates on Bonanzas versus Mooney. A Mooney 252 is much faster than a Bonanza but the quotes for insurance were 1500 cheaper for me than the Bonanza and about same as an older 182.

Fwiw our insurance is about 60% more than my Bonanza-owning friend and twice that of my Arrow-owning boss. Which has the same engine and one of his named pilots does touch and goes all the time. :facepalm.

I had a similar experience with my 231 when shopping.  The insurance on a 10 year older Bonanza was almost 2x.  I ended up going through AOPA for an insurance broker.  The insurance company ultimately turned out to be Chartis/AIG.

I used David Savoie and will "third" the recommendation. Also used Falcon and with various discounts, was shocked how cheap it is to insure a plane compared to my old sailboat.

Good luck

I'll throw in my two cents.  Highly recommend David Savoie at US Aircraft Finance.  Took him only 4 business days from the first time I talked to him to actually close on the loan.  Interest rate was excellent, low closing costs, and always promptly returned my phone calls or email. A+

Also Cliff Bertoff at Falcon was able to beat everyone else by about a grand.  Also very quick to reply to emails and was very informative.  Again A+
