201Mooniac Posted July 10 Report Posted July 10 If you are friendly with an MSC, you might want to ask if they have one around from an LED upgrade. Quote
PT20J Posted July 10 Report Posted July 10 Green is Whelen A1280-3. @OSUAV8TER probably has them. Quote

There are cheaper versions that are not TSO certified so it legally limits you from conducting night time operations. James Quote

OSUAV8TER Posted July 10 Report Posted July 10 If you are looking for LED replacements for those legacy wingtip position/strobe lights, I highly recommend the Orion 650. It has the same footprint and features a red or green LED position light and white LED strobe light. When major components on legacy lights start failing (power supplies, flash tubes, etc.) it is a compelling value proposition to just due away with them and upgrade to LED lighting. They have a 5 year warranty and if there are any issues within those 5 years I will assist in the warranty process, which likely involves me sending you a replacement lamp. We are an authorized Whelen and AeroLEDs dealer and stock all of these lights. They are the best. https://www.gallagheraviationllc.com/WAT-14V-Green-6501G-Wingtip-Light_p_167.html <-- Right wing 14V https://www.gallagheraviationllc.com/WAT-14V-Red-6501R-Wingtip-Light_p_166.html <-- Left wing 14V Quote

Om sure they are very nice, and it's pleasant to see that prices are down to only $1100 per pair. Replacement LED bulbs for the existing fixtures are about $270 per pair. Both are still seriously overpriced. Regular bulbs are about $30 per pair . . . 1 Quote
PT20J Posted July 10 Report Posted July 10 Just be aware that the IAI annunciator panel uses the electrical path through the nav light filaments to make the GEAR DOWN light glow bright when the nav lights are off, so if you replace all the nav lights with LEDs you will need some way to circumvent this or the GEAR DOWN light will be dim all the time. 1 1 Quote
Pinecone Posted July 10 Report Posted July 10 By going with the Orions you also can get rid of 3 strobe power supplies. Quote
haymak3r Posted July 10 Report Posted July 10 I may still have mine from going to led's.. I don't have the strobes anymore though. Quote
kris_adams Posted July 10 Report Posted July 10 (edited) If I can find my green lens I'm happy to mail it to you as well. Edited July 10 by kris_adams Quote
Matt103187 Posted July 11 Author Report Posted July 11 Thanks everyone for the help!! I was able to find a new green lens, I will upgrade to leds once these fail. I just cant bring myself to spend that kind of money on lights when these are still working. 2 Quote
