cliffy Posted March 2 Report Posted March 2 Looking for a Fla/Elev Trim indicator housing that mounts on the aft end of the nose wheel box in the cabin on early short bodies. Have tried several salvage yards to no avail. I have part number if needed. @Alan Fox will be tried here as will Dom Maxwell today If anyone has other ideas please let me know Thanks guys Quote
Andy95W Posted March 2 Report Posted March 2 Hi, Cliffy. I’d try Vantage Plane Plastics. Their catalog may not show the exact item, but I’d still give them a call. The last time I bought from them the lady on the phone knew the exact part number off the top of her head, even though it wasn’t in the catalog. Also reasonably priced. Hope she’s still there. https://vantageassoc.com/airplane/mooney/m20.html 1 Quote
Bob E Posted March 2 Report Posted March 2 I second Andy95W's post. Plane plastics is a great little outfit. They produce top-quality parts, each one made to order. The material on the replacement parts is just a tad thicker than the originals, so the replacments are more robust without affecting the fit. I replaced my flap/trim indicator housing, kick panels on both sides, and trim wheel chain cover. Super happy. Quote
cliffy Posted March 5 Author Report Posted March 5 No luck at PP Still looking around @Alan Fox Quote
65MooneyPilot Posted March 5 Report Posted March 5 I changed mine several years ago. Here is what I changed. Is this what you are looking for? @cliffy Quote

So, was ‘64 the year Mooney switched the housing material to royalite, vs aluminum in previous years? Are you able to expand your search to the ‘63 and prior model year? I stripped and repainted my aluminum housing, Aerographics (I think) had the decal… seems like it might work if you can find an aluminum housing from an earlier year? I still have the original decal that you could compare to your anodized plate. That’d be the only concern, that the scales can be matched up, right? Quote
cliffy Posted March 6 Author Report Posted March 6 Hadn't thought about a metal one from an earlier year. Mine is royalite. Scales should be the same I'd replace mine though Your's looks good Now I'm wondering about the aluminum P/N as of course everyone only goes by P/N I'll start digging into parts books tomorrow unless you have the part number handy? :-) Quote
Immelman Posted March 6 Report Posted March 6 (edited) Mine (66e, plastic) was falling apart, cracked, etc. I removed, put several fiberglass patches in it, painted, and that's held up well. Was somewhat of a pain to remove and replace, with the indicators.... but that is like so many other things in these airplanes. Edited March 6 by Immelman Quote
65MooneyPilot Posted March 6 Report Posted March 6 Vantage plane plastics K130103-9 for the plastic part as depicted in the IPB is what I installed. It looks like the two pictures of the parts are slightly different because the part I installed has mount screws on the right and left sides. The other pic just has mount screws on the left only. Got one hit on controller.com https://www.controller.com/parts/search?SearchType=Start&PartNumber=740020 Hope it works out… Quote
cliffy Posted March 6 Author Report Posted March 6 The one on controller won't sell to individuals PP does not have a cross reference for the flap/trim cover plate and the p/n shown on their web page doesn't match the part I'm looking for (as shown in this thread) Nice people but no stock no make according to them. I can patch what I have and probably will until a better one shows up sometime in the future at a junk yard. Frustrating even Alan Fox hasn't been heard from yet :-) 1 1 Quote
65MooneyPilot Posted March 7 Report Posted March 7 See if your FBO can order it for you or who ever they sell to. I know people that own maintenance shops that should be able to buy it for you. Just let me know. Quote

There are many single person A&P operations around the country trying to survive that are not licensed "companies". If the seller won't sell to an individual A&P then so be it. I'll buy elsewhere. Exceptions made for "Wholesale" companies who deal in large lot sales. I, too, have many friends with a business license that would order it for me but as far as I'm concerned, they just lost my business going forward. Your offer is gracious but not a route I'm willing to go but thank you anyway It is appreciated 1 Quote
