Just a quick flight past the Chicago skyline via the VFR flyway.

Now just a minute from our sponsor, Ridge Wallet.

Got to get out and touch the skyline!  This is believe it or not is on a IFR clearance into 06C (East to West over top of ORD) when I was commuting between 47N and Chi town.  At 0230 they let you do anything.

That’s amazing! I wanted to get closer. I should have just asked for vectors past it. They were super chill at 11pm

If you like this kind of things (I do) and miss Meigs you can still go to Toronto and land along the shoreline. Gorgeous views.

Great views!!

Two of my favorite landings were at Meigs Field back in the 80's. (January of 1988 in a C-172 and August of 1989 in a Grumman Tiger)

It is a damn shame what Daly did.  The "park" is little used vs. "THE" GA destination to fly into. C'est la vie.

I have Meigs in my logbook. Landed there a week after I bought my first Mooney in July of 84

Meigs was GREAT.  I have landed there multiple times in a Cherokee 140 back in the day.  Fly up and land, walk to McCormic Place to see equipment at a trade show, then fly home all in one day. Several night take off's out of Meigs.  All VFR.  Young pilot afraid of comms with the big guys at ATC.  Later landed at MidWay in my little puddle jumper and got Red Carpet treatment at the FBO. Cheaper overnight parking than in the car garage.  Those were the days my friend, we thought they would never end...
