Great, what year and price?

What are you looking to spend? There was a beautiful one for sale here a few weeks ago. I don’t believe it has sold yet. Look at the classifieds section.

Thx, I did see that one but the $$'s are really up there. That's what O3's with g1000 bring. It does look like a nice plane though.

Here’s my plane that I just closed on about 10 days ago. Similar to the other one I showed you but mine is inadvertent vs Fiki Mine also doesn’t have factory ox.

i paid 265k and it will be going for an 11k wing reseal later in the year. So 276k.

Should probably give you a good benchmark. There’s a nice one in Murfreesboro TN for sale it’s had a couple incidents, a hard landing and a prop strike but has pretty good avionics and seems to have been well maintained. I looked at it quite seriously, it just wasn’t equipped as well as the one I bought.  Brokers name is Blake, nice guy.

Yeh, I talked with Blake. Would consider it at $35k less. My problem is i have owned 15 planes, 5 Mooneys. I am picky and i think most are over priced today. The weak maintenance is what kills me. I don't expect to steal one but won't overpay. Like the guy in S FL.

Like the TN one has the O2 inop. Inop means lazy and cheap. just turns me off

Maybe, but it can also mean waiting on a tank.  They are backordered for months now. And with that in mind, I’d be less interested in one with INOP O2.

Here is an unusual one: Porsche Mooney converted to an Ovation IO-550N by STC.  Ovation performance (I would think) at a lower price, but you would get equally hurt on the resale in the future.

Run away from this one in a hurry. An M20L will only have about 600 pounds useful load, with no legal way to increase that. I remember this one from back around 2005 and it has been for sale a few times since and every time has taken a long time to sell to an unsuspecting buyer.

At least this time it's being advertised as an M20L not an Ovation (M20R). This one has the 92 gallon Monroy tanks, which means if you fill them, you better not be more than 48 pounds and you better not have any passengers or luggage.

Here's when it was for sale 14 years ago:

Is this a purely paperwork stc that limits the increase?  I mean isn’t this basically a middle without the FAA approval?

No. The M20L was the first long body. It's basically a J or K with a long body sitting on it. The brakes were the big drawback on this setup, as well as early M20M TLS - they were barely adequate (I had M20M serial number 0007 and the brakes were very poor compared to the other two Bravos (0150 & 0209) that I owned).

When they added the dual puck brakes to the M20M, and there may have been other things needed on the airframe as well, they got the 3368 lb. gross weight approval. There is not a legal basis for doing this on an L model. The only reason that a 1986-1990 Mooney 252 K model can upgrade to dual puck brakes and some other items to get a gross weight increase is that the K models called Encores in 1997-1998 had those and many other upgrades. There are drawings for that and the legal basis is there.

The L owners who took a cash settlement from Porsche and had the Ovation engine installed were promised by Mod Works in Punta Gorda, FL that down the road they would have an STC for gross weight increase. Hurricane Charley in 2004 wiped out their facility along with some airplanes that were there getting the engines installed. They went out of business and all of that ended. Whether they would have had the resources to pull that off is an unknown.

@LANCECASPER

I always understood that it was the first long body but if you look at the picture of the one on controller it is a mid body. It doesn’t have the extra window.

and I knew it didn’t have the 3368, but what kills the UL is they are stuck at 2900 and can’t get the. 3200 increase either.
so the stc is bigger brakes and or structural changes?

what did they do to the J?  I would have thought that late airframe, even the Porsche, had the 3200…

The M20L was the Mooney Porsche and the first long body - they needed to stretch it for weight and balance.

If this is the one you’re referring to, it’s a long body not a mid body:

It doesn’t have the extra pillar in the rear with the extended window.
is the body the same length with a shorter window?

I’m referring to the length of the body on the M20L not the window. The longer windows with the pillar didn’t come out until the M20M.

Just google Mooney Porsche and select images and you’ll see that all of the M20L’s all had the shorter windows, but long bodies.

If only I could, this one is being on the market for a while but did get its tanks resealed so that’s one less thing to worry about and the engine overhaul was done in 2014. Prebuy prebuy.

I looked at this one. Nice bird has had 2 or three incidents though.

Yeah, that was my point. It’s deceptive with the missing window.
