  1. This is what I did too, although was lucky enough to find an instructor local to where the plane was at. The real pain was getting my insurance to sign off on him due to age but eventually they were happy to approve him as long as it was just for that transition training and not as a soloing pilot in the plane on his own. Definitely was great being able to focus on getting those hours and on hitting as many landings as we could. Then a nice long cross country solo back to my home.
  2. Thanks for sharing! I dug up Lycoming's similar chart concerning the TIO-540 AF1B, looks like it says 2575 for continuous but doesn't have a takeoff number...
  3. Thank you! Yes definitely paying attention to the engine running tips folks have shared that are different from the POH's recommendations. Cruise I'm doing 30'/2400, which I believe is Bob Kroner's recommendation for turbo Mooneys from a while back.
  4. Hmm, I guess the question then is for Fritz, why do you cycle it multiple times?
  5. Wow, thank you guys so much! Glad it doesn't cause any extreme stresses then; I guess I'll take and appreciate that little extra bit of power. I also start cycling it 3x rather than just once. Much appreciated!
  6. Hey folks! Recent Bravo owner, was hoping you all could give me some insight. On takeoff with full forward throttle, prop, and mixture, I'm getting RPM in the 2610 range, POH says it should be 2575. So, I pull the prop back slightly to make 2575. Curious if others have to do the same, or if it's actually something I should be concerned about to bring up to the mechanic. Thanks!
  7. +1 to Jimmy. Just bought a Bravo through him and could not have been happier with his assistance through the process and prebuy.
  8. Hi, folks! I'm looking to get some training from Don Kaye in anticipation of a Bravo I'm acquiring later this year. Wondering if anyone has and would be willing to rent one (or would have a lead on someone) such that he could provide me some training in it. If not a Bravo, any other turbocharged M20 would be ideal. For those who don't know him (though that probably is no one on this site) Don has over 5000 hours of training people in Mooneys, so it definitely couldn't be in better hands. Thanks in advance!
  9. Great to know, thanks! Maybe see you there at some point down the road. :-)
  10. Yes; at home base it will have a nice climates controlled hangar, but I travel frequently to the bay area, sometimes for extended periods. Plan is to have it tied down generally at KWVI, so definitely close to the sea air. It will be flown a bit while there, once every week or two probably. Sounds like in your opinion cowl plugs and a canopy cover are not sufficient protection?
  11. Thanks; absolutely, it's important to support the services you get value from when you can.
  12. Hi, all! Just acquired a M20M Bravo GX that I will be picking up in a couple months. Does anyone have a digital copy of the POH for that model, or one close to it? Want to start perusing it while the weeks go by. Thank you!
  13. Figure I can resurrect this since I was the OP... Does anyone have experience with Bruce's lightweight travel canopy covers? My plane is hangared probably 3/4 of the year, when not traveling (which I do a lot). I like the idea of a lighter weight cover that doesn't take up as much space or weight, but if Bruce's standard one is the wiser way to go I'll definitely do so. Thoughts?
  14. Good to know! Thanks. How frequently did you end up washing it? Neat, yeah those fuel cap covers look like a wise idea. Thanks!
