Surefly on Acclaim TSIO 550 G

Has anyone fitted Surefly on the Acclaim/TSIO 550 G? If so, where can we buy the harness? Our A&P had asked about having one made but was told that they cannot make for export (to Australia).

It's the same harness as the standard mag on my Bravo....

I am not aware of any Surefly installations on an Acclaim, but someone will probably jump in and correct that. You have good Bendix mags on your engine as opposed to the Slicks on the Bravo. If hot starts are the problem, it may be time for an inspection on the mags or timing may be off or it could just be the starting procedure.

Also, what spark plugs are you using? Tempest Fine Wire make a big difference. I had Champion Fine Wire when I bought the airplane used (all Platinum Continental engines came with Champion Fine Wire), however all 12 of them were showing high resistance. It runs much smoother with the Tempest Fine Wire plugs.

I had a surefly added to my Acclaim 6-8 months ago, along with the Maggie ignition harness, which is reasonably priced.

Thankyou for the comments. I am unsure which company told our A&P that they could not export. the reason for wanting to change the left hand side to Surefly is that it is due for overhaul. The Surefly has much less maintenance requirements and has been an excellent upgrade on other planes that I know of.
