  1. Thankyou for the comments. I am unsure which company told our A&P that they could not export. the reason for wanting to change the left hand side to Surefly is that it is due for overhaul. The Surefly has much less maintenance requirements and has been an excellent upgrade on other planes that I know of.
  2. Has anyone fitted Surefly on the Acclaim/TSIO 550 G? If so, where can we buy the harness? Our A&P had asked about having one made but was told that they cannot make for export (to Australia).
  3. In reading all of this post going back to 2022, it seems every Mooney owner has the same dilemma. Is this correct? Basically, there are not any no-back springs available. Mooney themselves told one of our Australian Mooney owners A&P this week that they are not supporting. We now have a number of Mooney owners here in Australia getting anxious and nervous.
  4. Thankyou for this information. I can see that the motors are avialable from RS
  5. Could somebody recommend where I can source replacement bearings for the motor for the demister blower. The bearings are 5/32" inside, 3/8" outside and 5/32" wide. It is difficult to source inch bearings here in Australia and this seems to be an uncommon size. Thankyou in advance.

Interesting. Is that 50 degrees lean of peak? Leaning is always interesting as I don't like to pause too long to settle on the peak EGT.
  7. @ thomas1142 ... Did you ever have a resolution to your G3X problems? We have also now had 3 Garmin units (not in our Mooney) and still no resolution after almost a year. There does seem to be a pattern associated with warmer weather.

Typically we see @ FL150/FL160 29" 2400 15.3 to 15.7 GPH @ 50o LOP - And a TAS of 185 knots (heavy) to 190 knots (light). Our Acclaim is not quite as streamlined as most due to having ADF (which is quite large), traffic, Wx Antennas as well as Vortex Generators for short field performance.

Thankyou for the assistance. We now have the overhauled turbo fitted and running. The service provided by Main Turbo was exceptional. 6 days from order to running in our plane ... and the delivery had to go half way around the world! When we troubleshoot the problem with previous, will post details. In the interim, only 300 hours on the turbo since overhaul, nothing indicating high TIT in the logs, Normally running about 1570 TIT LOP, 95% of cruise is at 29", 2400RPM

Would anyone recommend a supplier of new/exchange or overhauled turbo to suit the Acclaim TSIO 550. Limited parts available here in Australia and have been quoted 6 months ex USA. We had turbo problems a couple hundred hours ago and needed to overhaul. We chose (wrong choice in hindsight) to go down the exchange path, however one turbo is now out of tolerance and the two halves do not clamp up tight and they can turn.
  12. Hello from Downunder. Our oxygen system was due for checking. Tank needed to be replaced, regulator checked out OK, but the to pressure compensating valve has failed at high altitude (18,000' and 25,000'). The only options that the company testing the system has given us is; 1) Send the pressure compensator back to the OEM have them overhaul and then find out what the cost will be after it is fixed. 2) Buy a new one. Unknown delivery time as the OEM makes to order, and still don't know cost. Either way, taking into account shipping to/from Australia, we will also be unable to use the O2 system for quite while. Can anybody suggest where one might be able to buy a pressure compensating valve elsewhere? Or any other options?
  13. Forgot to mention. Have just tested (and replaced where necessary) plugs.
  14. Has anyone had a similar experience with an Acclaim? Our Acclaim has just started running a little rough in the cruise when running Lean of Peak. At the same time Cyl #2 has seen quite an increase in EGT. When reverting to Rich of Peak there engine runs smooth and EGTs are balanced. Engine has 1200 hours, but about 200 hours since top overhaul. Ignition? Fuel? Valves? Compression?
