New glareshield for a vintage panel?

The under glareshield strip lights comes with their own dimmer, and I would think it preferable to keep separate dimmers for it, and the regular Mooney panel lights. Marauder, too many adoptees as it is (two granddaughters still in college, one "still looking for a job", and one in the Americord teaching program), so potty training doesn't automatically move you to the top of the financial aid list, (although potty training is a useful attribute in humans and parrots).

 

I had my glareshield built from scratch.  It was one of the few inexpensive items in the refurbish project. A good friend with an C model also had his made from scratch by a local upholsterer using aircraft approved foam and a leather cover, and it came out at least as well as mine. I think if I were doing it again, I would have a couple of recessed areas built into the top to house all the new antennas for "portable devices", and I would have holes and plugs in these recesses so that the antenna leads could drop down through them.

Bennett -- do you have any pictures of your glare shield? Trying to get some ideas. My glare shield issue is the attachment points on either side of the panel, the screws and finishing washers keep getting bigger every year. I'm expecting to find them using nuts and bolts through side of the plane at some point I also have a nice crack forming in the middle.

That's what I'm looking for. So, can an upholstery shop make one from scratch if I give them mine to use as a template?

NOT the "upholstery shop" I used in Mesa, AZ. the 80 USD that ispend there were completely wasted. Will have my girlfriend do the next one. She can easily outdo that "expert"
