hobbies001 Posted February 6, 2012 Report Posted February 6, 2012 Hi all, My HSI is getting no signal. Tests ok and Nav 2 working fine...something wrong in the middle somehow. Need a good shop. I know a great shop in NY but none here in Fl. Thanks. Quote
David Mazer Posted February 7, 2012 Report Posted February 7, 2012 I've used Sarasota Avionics in the past. I have always had some installation/repair issue that required repeated visits but they eventually get the job done. The good news is they always get the job done and others haven't. I'm not sure that all aviation related services aren't the same with incomplete/incorrect initial work in my limited experience so maybe that is normal. Quote
FAST FLIGHT OPTIONS LLC Posted February 7, 2012 Report Posted February 7, 2012 +1 for Sarasota Avionics. Oddly enough my GTN 650 installation was screwed up as well. I had both wiring and programming issues; however, they work diligently to get those issues fixed in a timely manner. I would definitely use them again Quote
Parker_Woodruff Posted February 7, 2012 Report Posted February 7, 2012 Sarasota Avionics or Gulf Coast Avionics in Lakeland. Quote
fantom Posted February 7, 2012 Report Posted February 7, 2012 Note that Sarasota has shops in Venice, Palm Beach (Lantana), and Sarasota. Quote
FAST FLIGHT OPTIONS LLC Posted February 7, 2012 Report Posted February 7, 2012 Based on my experience the "experts" are working at the Sarasota location...if that matters Quote
pjsny78 Posted February 7, 2012 Report Posted February 7, 2012 I can't say anything good about the company except that Kirk fryar is a stand up guy. To make a long story short I had all kinds of problems and finally after the second attempt where the plane came back to me worse off than when I dropped it off and weeks of needless down time. I went to my own shop to have the issues fixed for good. Quote
flyboy0681 Posted February 7, 2012 Report Posted February 7, 2012 Another vote for Sarasota. However, when we brought the plane into them for HSI problems last month, they sent it on to Bob Bramble for the actual repairs and the complete turnaround time was about 10 days. Quote
fantom Posted February 7, 2012 Report Posted February 7, 2012 Shops like Sarasota specialize in selling and installing NEW equipment, not repairs. BTW, I know of Bob Bramble and he is good. If you can get to Ft. Lauderdale, this repair shop is excellent, honest, and reasonable. A combination not found that often. http://www.aeiavionicsinc.com/ Quote

pmj341 Posted February 21, 2012 Report Posted February 21, 2012 I've used Custom Avionics in Bartow on several Jobs, they are honest and do great work! Quote
cunnira Posted February 21, 2012 Report Posted February 21, 2012 Bragg Aviation, Craig Field, Jacksonville, Fl. Quote
leonard1966 Posted March 9, 2012 Report Posted March 9, 2012 Sarasota Avionics has my preference.. They have worked with a lot of Mooneys for new installs, repairs and upgrades. Competitive pricing and real honest work. They have shops in VENICE, SARASOTA, LANTANA, TAMPA EXEC, PUNTA GORDA, BRASIL and they are currently working on a European connection as well.. Excellent service.. 1 Quote
Steve Dawson Posted March 9, 2012 Report Posted March 9, 2012 I've had good luck dealing directly with Kirk Fryar also at Sarasota and have to agree he's a stand up guy. I had problems but he came through with flying colours. (pun intended) Ask to get Fred Dunn for new avionics installations. Quote
flyboy0681 Posted March 9, 2012 Report Posted March 9, 2012 Sarasota did a great job installing my GTN 750. Not cheap, but good work. Quote
boarbuster Posted July 22, 2012 Report Posted July 22, 2012 Custom Avionics just installed a Garmin 650 in my 201 and did a great job. They are in Bartow. Quote
