Super excited!

So I just added another rating on my pilot certificate. The examiner said I’m probably pretty close to having to have two certificates but he wasn’t sure at what point you run out of room. Anyone here have to have two certificates?

I have four certificates but only carry two:

ATP Multi, Commercial Single Engine Land

CFI, CFII, MEI

Plus:

Advanced Ground Instructor

Remote Pilot

RG,

Which rating did you just get?

Don't John and Martha King have something close to every certificate and rating possible?   I wonder what theirs look like?

Many of us have two cards, since the Pilot's and Mechanic's certificates are separate, with separate artwork, appearance, etc.   The numbers are the same, though, since they're both "Airman's" certificates.

We have a few gyrocopter pilots around here…

Lots of helicopter pilots as well…

A quick search indicates 10-20hrs of training to add to a PP certificate…. No idea what is required to add to a helicopter rating… could be less?

May make a great thread in the MS vacations section…

:)

When I did my RH ratings, it was 30 hours (15 dual and 15 solo) to add on a Helicopter rating.

But most insurance required 20 hours of dual prior to solo, so a practical minimum of 35 hours.   When I did mine, by the time I soloed, I had done ALL my dual training, including a couple of the test prep hours.  So I was at 36 - 37 hours when I did my Private Check ride.

I did the Private raing, so that all the Dual towards my Commercial counted as PIC for that requirement.   And before I did my Commercial checkride, I had already started work on my CFI RH.

Commercial ASMEL, IA, RH, G, Private ASES

CFI (non-current) ASE, IA, RH, G

AGI, IGI

No where close to filling up any of the certificates.

Yea I also added rh at the private level so all my training will now be pic. Did 3.5 hours of instrument dual yesterday and my instructor said I could pass the rotor-instrument today.

IR will probably be in my future.  Just to do it. :D'

Seriously considering the I-R rating. Did my first 4 hours under the hood the other day and my instructor said I’d pass the checkride today. But would have to fly circles for another 11 hours legally. Would probably do the cfi-IR at the same time.

Your Mooney will become a much more effective traveler! And since you're turbo, you will be able to cruise high and fast when the winds permit, looking down in us mortals slogging through the clouds below you.

All great ratings, but the most important one is the maintenance licence.  Without it the rest are wallpaper.

They gave me a separate certificate for my A&P license, even though it has the same number on it. The IA is a real disappointment, it’s just a piece of cardboard.

My remote pilot’s license is a separate certificate also.

Agreed, if I did the time and prep for the IR, I would do the CFI-IR also.

I would do it but we really need a private a&p that can be done in a year. No pressurization, no turbine, no engine overhauls, etc. I lm lucky to have a IA that lets me do all the wrenching today.

Instrument rotorcraft doesn’t help much in the Mooney. Oddly it doesn’t even count for instrument currency.

I did my Sport, Sport CFI then add on PVT in the gyro. Good news is that I don't need the cross country for the PVT Helicopter add on!
