I have a 1980 J model that needs a new battery. The rest of the electrical system is fine but the 6 year old battery will not hold a charge. The current model is a Concorde RG-35AXC but I have been unable to find one anywhere. Even speaking to Boeing Aveo, the manufacturer they can not find one in North America. Has anybody found a solution to this shortage? The lead times look like 9 months according to some vendors. Considering I am AOG right now I am looking for a fast replacement. Any ideas? By the way, I look for a Gill 7035-28 and they are all back ordered as well.

Thanks!

Try Air Power if you’re looking for a new battery… good luck.

I bought one from Spruce a few weeks ago. Maybe I got the last one.

Did your free IA Seminar battery crap out already?

Yes, but I think I can resurrect it.

In 2018 I won the grand door prize at the FAA sponsored Southwest Aviation Maintenance Symposium AKA the IA seminar. It counts for 1 year of IA currency.

if it’s a Concorde they have a procedure to help recover from sulphation, might need an adjustable power supply though, normal batteries it’s called an equalization charge, it’s an intentional overcharge to assist in conversion of sulphated plates, Concorde calls it a conditioning charge

This CMM explains the conditioning charge on page 107, recovery from deep discharge is right after conditioning charge

You may already know this, if so maybe it may help someone else

Aircraft Spruce shows the Concorde RG-35AXC in stock.
https://www.aircraftspruce.com/catalog/elpages/rg_35axc.php

If you can’t get that, the slightly lower capacity RG-35A should be more common. Boeing isn’t the manufacturer. The battery is manufactured by Concorde. Boeing bought out Aviall which is a wholesale parts supplier.
