AH-1 Cobra Pilot Posted March 9, 2022 Report Posted March 9, 2022 A few months ago, I took a quiz on the AOPA weekly newsletter. I found an answer to be in error, so I emailed the correction to them. They responded via email, thanking me for the correction. Recently, totally unsolicited, they sent me this coin and hat, with a letter, again thanking me for the correction. How honorable! And what an act for a fine organization! They will have my support forever! 7 Quote
Kmac Posted March 9, 2022 Report Posted March 9, 2022 Very nice... Skyvector also sent me a ball cap simply because I uploaded some pictures of some airports. 1 Quote
steingar Posted March 10, 2022 Report Posted March 10, 2022 I dumped them when they did away with the forum I kinda liked. Very dysfunctional organization. Then again, most of them are. 1 Quote
EricJ Posted March 10, 2022 Report Posted March 10, 2022 A friend is in the middle of purchasing a C-172 and having a hard time getting through the process. He tried using AOPA to get insurance. I bought my airplane from the AOPA Foundation after it had been donated to them by the previous owner. Both of us had bad experiences with them. +1 that they're a pretty dysfunctional operation. But I'm a member, I like their main publication, the safety foundation, and some of their lobbying efforts. It's too bad that they're not as good as they could be. 2 Quote
201Steve Posted March 11, 2022 Report Posted March 11, 2022 For the nay sayers, I’ve had certain segments I’ve not been wild about, but for what they do- it’s about all we’ve got and we owe the nominal fee it costs to protect what we couldn’t live without. Aviation is an easy target, we need all the guns we can put our hands on - even if it ain’t perfect. 3 Quote
N201MKTurbo Posted March 11, 2022 Report Posted March 11, 2022 So when Eric bought his plane from AOPA, he wanted a prebuy from DMAX. AOPA hired me to fly it out there. I’m probably the only pilot that got a check from AOPA. 1 3 Quote

They totally stiffed the local mechanic that fixed the vac pump (which failed again) before you took it to TX. Quote
RobertGary1 Posted March 11, 2022 Report Posted March 11, 2022 I remember back in the day when aopa membership has benefits and they didn’t have to sell you then benefits separate. After 15 years I rejoined when our AIP funded airport banned experimental aircraft. Aopa didn’t really do anything. EAA has helped. 1 Quote
