With time,  the holes in the top fiberglass cowling got larger and the split retainer rings do not have a large enough external diameter to keep the fasteners in place. And these things tend to jump like grasshoppers when they fall on the ground !!.

Anyone came up with a good idea on how to keep the fastners in place ? or have a source of split retainers that would do the job ?

Thanks !

I ordered A 4002-SW retaining washer and it pulled through the top cowl.  Maybe it was the oversize washer in there already. Looks like the only repair is fiberglass. Maybe stick a 1.25" square of .025 aluminum  in there on the inside of the cowl (with the hole for the camloc fastener)  an put the retainer behind that.

Is the R4T the oversize?
