Technically, each pic is typically rotated 90° CCW...

The elf, grabs the pic, saves it in the camera roll, edits it, rotates it 90° CW, saves it, and reposts it...

takes less than a minute each...

Another thing that has seemed to work is if you upload and it is rotated, then just crop the pic slightly. You don't have to change it much, not even change it from a portrait to landscape, just shave off a tiny bit, save it, and re-upload.

Oil pressure was normal?  Was it the bottom half shell or top?  Sorry if I missed those details above.

It was the rear, so it would be the left or right. 

I don't remember, but the case shop found a crack in one of the rear bearing saddles. I assume that's what caused this. It upped the case overhaul by $300

Most Mooney engine cases are split with two sides...
 

Yet, OHs are done as top ends vs. bottom ends...

So... misnomer of the day... a Top OH only removes the cylinders, off the sides...

The only thing on the top of the engine... is the fuel injection system, or air intake system...

The front bearing is installed top and bottom. The center and rear are placed in the case halves. You have to hold the front on the crank when you lower the crank into the case.

The accessory case hides all the oil handling parts, gear pump, screen, And filter, also the mags are back there...

What else is hiding on the back side?

Well, the Top one is for the vacuum pump/scavenger pump. Right under that is the filter/vernatherm and bypass valve. Under that is the governor. To the left of that is the fuel pump and above that is the mag (dual).

Yup, btdt, but this was an O-320 out of a C172, so no fuel pump, and the vac had been deleted, so it was a bit easier.   It did have two mags, though. 

Very cool to see the progress.

You are doing a proper job for sure and wasn’t suggesting you weren’t! To the less knowledgeable person an unpainted engine from a top engine builder would have less value that’s a nicely painted engine from a lesser builder. Or they just trick the person with a fresh paint job. You appear to have both the paint and the builder taken care of in top fashion, nice work!

It gives a good idea of where the oil gets picked up at the bottom...

It appears to sit in a bit of a shallow well...

consider getting your baffling powder coated while you have it a part.  It looks really good and is easy to clean. I did on my last J when I replaced all cylinders. I did just a spray can overhaul on the bottom end:)
