I draw the line at naming my airplane, however.  I've never been able to bring myself to anthropomorphize mechanical objects.

Well then, you are getting closer to the goal.

So, it's an aspirational thing, one of those life-long journeys that you never really complete.  Hmmm.  I sense I need to visit a mountaintop guru and seek enlightenment.  Or maybe a swamp guru in Longview, TX.

There you go. That is the gist of being a Mooney pilot.  The mountaintop guru's are getting harder to find though, as is the path to enlightment.  It is, however, necessary if you want to be a REAL Mooney Pilot. Or so I am told.

There's a swami in NJ you could visit, too, there just aren't any mountains for him to sit atop . . . .  :D   Are there, Anthony?  @carusoam

We have a place called High Point, NJ...

https://www.state.nj.us/dep/parksandforests/parks/highpoint.html

1800’ msl....

Tall enough to generate downdrafts that a C172 is challenged to outclimb during IFR training in the winter dark...

NJ is the garden state... a bit south of the any mountainous states...

:)

Go NJ!

I'm also one of the few who can actually remember the combination to the padlock on the liquor cabinet in the Mooney Caravan tent at AirVenture.

There are plenty of other reasons, but this alone cements Mooney pilot status...at least until the cabinet is emptied, anyway!

There is that landfill in Staten Island, though...
