Beautiful morning in the South today. Only 76° at departure, hardly any clouds to be seen and then only little ones.

Over the last week, I flew from Cincinnati to Little Rock for work.  On the day I was to fly back, I was delayed and that implied that I might be deviatiating around buildups and storms near dusk - I've done that once and not a fan of doing that again.  So instead of doing the 3.5-ish hour flight (that would have begun with a 50-mile leg 90 degrees from on course) I decided to fly 2 hours to Tuscaloosa to see family.  The next day, I then flew from Tuscaloosa to Athens, Ohio to have a birthday lunch with my son. Then after lunch a short-ish hop back to Cincinnati.

All of this to say, "gosh, the flexibility of the Mooney (and general aviation) is something!"

That and "you know those days when you want to fly, but you can't figure out a mission... it is nice to have those missions laid out by circumstances and happenstance"

A couple recent flights.

I know, not in a Mooney, but I’m a FOREVER MOONEY LOVER!!!   I’m performing an Annual Inspection on an E as I submit this.

Heading back to the U.P. from Minneapolis at sunset.  Two photos looking north towards Lake Superior and one of MSP at sunset.

I’d happily fly up to MI and trade a ride in the IV-P with a Mooney. B)

My D is still participating in a 4-month long annual due to calamity after calamity.
Thankfully a local flying club member here yesterday put me in the left-seat of their newly acquired PA28-180. Its obviously not a Mooney but I believe that Garmin should mail him a commission check. They had just spent AMU’s in the high thirties on a new panel. Dual G5’s, GFC500, new Garmin comm, Stratus, a bada** fancy audio panel, etc etc. It was my first exposure to the GFC500. Wow that 20 AMU roughy estimate isn’t looking so bad after all...

Here is the future site of the new Vertical Launch Spaceport (Granot Loma Estate) along the crystal clear waters of Lake Superior:

What's with the Daytona Beach handle?  I have a home on Spruce Creek.

ERAU grad.  2005.  One of my college roommates renovated and help open the restaurant at Spruce Creek.  Last time I was there, it was a nice place.  I plan on brining my Bravo to Daytona for annual Aug/Sep timeframe and wanted to check it out..

Nothing special, except for me...     First cross-country in quite some time on a perfect morning in Western Massachusetts.    Flight to Saratoga (5B2) just because I can.

I need to do better posting up pictures...

7/22 took a short post oil change flight over to Riverside for cheap(er) fuel.
7/24 flew to South Valley Regional in Salt Lake to see family for the weekend.
7/25 two short flights to take one of my sisters, three of her kids, and one of their friends all on their first GA flights.
7/26 flew back to CA.
7/28 put 5 gallons in at KFUL (only had 10 in the plane which is my personal minimum to land, not take off) and then a relaxing post work day flight over to Riverside, my current favorite less expensive fuel stop.
8/1 my oldest son is in town for a week so we flew over to Camarillo for breakfast.
8/1 put the homemade AC in the plane and took a couple friends and her son for an flight-seeing tour of LA.  It was her and her son's first flights in a GA plane, fortunately greased the landing.

This is cheating, and my apologies to @bonal for putting 2017 flights into his 2019 thread... This was a collection of 2017 flights that I just got around to completing the blog post. Most of it was written in 2017, but I finally got to sorting through the tons of pictures that were taken on those trips. Here's just a few pics, there are a bunch more of Yellowstone and some other places on my site along with the story of a handful of flights.

Yes, beautiful!!  I’ve had the Yellowstone flight experience too.  Imbedded in my mind.

My oldest son is on town for a week from school so after work he and I went for a flight out to KRAL for fuel. I let him fly from about 1,500 AGL to entering the pattern at KRAL and on the way back from about 1,500 AGL until about a 10 mile straight in final at KFUL. I guess I have been to KRAL enough for fuel that the tower knows me. As we were rolling out he didn't ask where we were headed, I just got "Mooney 878, left on Echo, taxi Echo to fuel, monitor Ground point seven."

Flew back from MSP area to KIMT this morning.  Had some weather pop up during my flight home.  Spotted it 30 minutes from ETA, pulled power back to 300 Knots GS, (35 knot tailwind) and realized I wouldn’t delay it before the weather cleared.   I canceled 70 miles out, flew VFR until landing, requiring some serious VFR flying.  Flew a VFR arrival and got in without an alternate airport “landing” option.

Here’s what the instruments showed BEFORE LANDING
