Cruiser Posted October 22, 2019 Report Posted October 22, 2019 Ovation owners, how does the top of the cowl line up with the spinner on the 310 HP Harzell 3 blade prop combination ? Wondering about the engine mounts and how much difference between new and old support. Anyone have experience with this? Thanks Quote
MooneyMitch Posted October 22, 2019 Report Posted October 22, 2019 Question might be, do you have an alignment issue? Photos possibly? Age of mounts? Broken mount? Damage of some sort? More information might be helpful. Quote
carusoam Posted October 22, 2019 Report Posted October 22, 2019 It lines up terribly... A mere statement of fact... There is a 1/4” step created by the small sized spinner... Apparently, the bobos at Hartzell missed a small detail. They said they would get back to me on this... Maybe they made a larger one, and forgot to notify me... My engine mount was sent for OH, the rubber mounts were brand new, the engine was factory reman, the prop and spinner were brand new... When all was mounted... voila! Off by a quarter inch... So distracted by the 30 extra hp, I didn’t put much effort into getting it righted... We might need an MS class action swap event... get the right spinners mounted and maybe a dynamic prop balance while we are at it... Best regards, -a- Quote

During next annual, I think I'm going to do the lord mounts. Quote
MIm20c Posted October 23, 2019 Report Posted October 23, 2019 I would change out the 20 yo mounts. However, even with new mounts you’ll still need two shims from laser to line up the prop perfectly. Just an FYI the mounts are pretty pricey. Quote
