Hi all,

I have a single bar elevator trim switch (not split) in my Mooney.  Those of you that might have this switch, do you have to depress the middle spring loaded bar in order to get the trim to work?

Before I had my yokes taken all I had to do was push or pull the trim switch without depressing that "bar" and the trim would roll in the appropriate direction.  After the yokes were put back on I have to depress that "bar" in order to get the trim to move in the down (forward) direction but not the up (back) direction?  I am assuming that my mechanic inadvertently fixed a problem when he shot a little lube on the switch?  I am guessing that the "bar" does have to be depressed before the trim will operate?

Since it is working I am not too worried about it right now, but does anybody happen to have a part number for this type of switch?  Is it part of the Century 31 Autopilot installation?

Thank you for any help.

On mine, I have to depress the switch for the trim to operate, I'm pretty sure that's how it's supposed to work.. I could be wrong, in which case I'll need a new switch too!!!

Mine is the same Brett and it wears in. I have the same trim switch from my C-3AP and it is used now on the trim for my 55X. When I first bought the plane (and the other Mooneys I have flown), you had to press and push. Drives ya nuts...then the switch wears in. Funny though, I have never heard of one crapping out.....mine hasn't in 13 years. To directly answer the question...20 to 30 degrees...no more?

Thanks guys.  I kind of figured that it was supposed to be depressed before the trim would become active, but now I know for sure.  Thank you!!!
