Bryan Posted December 6, 2018 Report Posted December 6, 2018 They are installing EMAS "Engineered Material Arresting System" at our airport. Looks like it worked today at Burbank. 1 Quote

Yetti Posted December 7, 2018 Report Posted December 7, 2018 Can we correct the title to "overruns the end of the runway" Quote

carusoam Posted December 7, 2018 Report Posted December 7, 2018 On my trip home from purchasing the O... a regional jet over-ran the end of the runway... It was an aborted T/O... Our lunch stop turned into an overnight stay, while they pulled the offending jet from the trap... the other runway was down for maintenance... That engineered materials works really well. It is only going to be able to dissipate so much momentum... so there will be a weight and speed maximums that will work for this system... Any idea if it works for GA weight planes? Best regards, -a- Quote
Andy95W Posted December 7, 2018 Report Posted December 7, 2018 Well, it is a twin engine airplane and those are more dangerous than singles... 1 4 Quote
