I went by the booth wearing all Mooney gear, head to toe. Everyone was busy talking to each other. There were no other non-Mooney employees at the booth at that time. I was the only one. I finally figured out how to get one of the VIP badges and left. But during the time I was there, two other "customers" came up to me and asked if I worked for Mooney. Again, because everyone in the grey Mooney uniforms were busy with their own conversations. I was not impressed.

I had the same experience. I was there first thing Monday with a Mooney shirt on and then early afternoon Wednesday. I saw Mooney employees/regional sales reps talking to each other. I was completely invisible to them. I went there Monday to find out when and where the Mooney forum would be held. When I couldn't find anyone to talk to I left and ended up missing it. I understand it was on Tuesday. That was one of the reasons I wanted to go to Oshkosh this year . .  oh well.

Also . .  how do they get that Mooney is celebrating 70 years? New math I guess. They should look back and see that they made a huge deal in 1993 about it being their 40th Anniversary and they made 40th Anniversary airplanes with a special logo and then stitching on the leather headrests and center caps on the yokes reflecting that. That was 25 years ago.

I shouldn't be surprised. They celebrated their 60th anniversary just 13 years later in 2006. Now 12 years after their 60th, in 2018, they are celebrating their 70th anniversary.

I hope their measurements for tolerances aren't being done by the same employee that is figuring out their anniversaries.

At Oshkosh, the signs that they put up to get into their "exclusive" area said "by invitation only". If you're going to do that then why not send out some invitations by e-mail, or maybe they did. I know they have my e-mail address . . . sometimes by accident I get Lance Philip's emails from Mooney employees. I always respond by letting them know they sent it to the wrong "Lance". I've only bought one new Mooney from the factory, I guess the other five I've owned don't register with them. Or maybe you have to have owned 7 to be a VIP. . lol

On the flip side I get treated like royalty from Avidyne and Jeppesen. Avidyne sent e-mails about their "Burgers, Brats and Beer" party Tuesday night and when I got there they had a bag with my name on it with a t-shirt and hat in it and thanks for supporting Avidyne and telling others about it.

I was having a good time with the sales rep Bonnie when I was renewing my Jeppesen subscription in the Boeing building. Without asking, she gave me a laser cut aluminum VIP Boeing tag which gave me access to their upper lounge and deck to watch airshows. Much better seat than Mooney anyway . . lol

I was also at the Mooney trailer at sun-n-fun and felt  like an outsider being ignored.

The opposite was true at the Mooney display-on Monday,I was engaged by a few rep’s treated very well, rapped with DMax for awhile received my VIP badge, my wife pulled me out of there since I was rapping with them wasting her precious time.

I guess timing is everything, they really should treat us all professionally I did have a Mooney shirt on.

Ive had 3 Mooneys, 2 new, I wouldn’t let the way I was treated by mgt to alter what I would fly  now over 3 decades of Mooney ownership, my plane has no clue whether the sales or management folks act nice or like ass’s. I certainly wouldn’t buy a Beech,Cirrus or other based on the actions of mgt.

Ive had a few Mercedes even though the sales people were pompous, who cares, just my thoughts.

If everyone was like you, we wouldn't need sales people. :D

I also manage a global sales organization and have attended/worked countless trade shows. This crew wouldn't be on my team very long.

Paul basically true, prior to my auto or plane purchase I knew what I wanted, just needed to order and pick up.

My thoughts. I didn’t like the fence, or the vip entrance signs all over, or the trailer that divided the space. You want a showroom to be inviting, pull the customer in. Before they ask to sit in the plane, invite them in. If they seem technical show off the workmanship, pop the hood, ask what they think of the color choices. If they start talking about safety of a chute explain how the cage works.

I went by multiple times and the same people were always just sitting next to the car or behind the trailer texting or privately talking. Others were more inviting like Lance who came up and talked for a  long time.

Mooney is trying to be like Cirrus where you will get no attention at all unless you bring the wife in a short skirt and bling. That brings out 5 employees surounding the couple in the plane pointing at the o-sht handle.

Instead class it up hire some outgoing knowledgeable individuals and place them at each plane. If they continue with the sale replace with someone else.

I feel like I just got kicked in the gut. I've been Mooney engaged and brand ambassador from the moment I owned one and after spending nearly 4X as much as the plane is worth I read this thread. I'm sick to my stomach and want out so bad I can't stand it. I'm not rich nor do I have a rich family that would allow me to own new but I did manage to buy a pile and make it my own. Right wrong or different I spent too much and did the wrong research but in the end I own a MOONEY. It's fast it looks ok and it is cool to climb out and hear people talk about how they wished they owned one. If Mooney really is using this path to sell aircraft then issues will follow and the public will answer. The plane maybe the best in the world but if support and pride are not behind the product it fails. This forum has kept me moving forward and positive. Maybe Mooney should hire some of us to advertise the brand. I hope this is a mistake that can be corrected and positive will come from it, I'd hate to have to run around flapping my arms because I really don't enjoy flying other aircraft.

I’ve owned my Mooney through a number of “owners”. In the early years, I think some of the old timers like Bill Wheat made the connection to the original Mooney Corporation and gave you a closer tie to the brand.

My advice to you, forget what brand of airplane you own. Get it in, fire it up and go fly around for an hour. While you are up there, think about what you have done to the plane and feel the pride that it was YOU that brought this plane back beyond it’s former glory. All will again be right.

I love the brand, the plane, and the people I get to hang out with because I own a Mooney.  I just don't love the latest group of marketing/sales people employed by Mooney. But fortunately or unfortunately, they seem to come and go pretty quickly. It can't be an easy job selling $800K toys.

Seriously folks I don't get it, who really cares how the sale's and management acts regarding our planes, most of the owner's did not buy from Mooney nor will they. I would just disregard how they act were not elementary school kids, why should it matter to us, now if your in the market for  a new plane that's different. Like Chris said have pride in your own plane fly have fun, life is to short to even worry about that crap. If I annoyed you from my thought's that's ok keep it to yourself. Mooneys are great, Mooney pilots are the best our forum is awesome the hell with the other stuff.

Was in my first mooney as a 7 year old in '84..bought my m20k in 2014 and am looking at the new Acclaim or Ovation Ultra to get this year.  I went by the Mooney booth at EAA 2 years ago and they were incredibly nice...not sure what changed in two years, but every experience i've had has been great.  Let's not put the blame on the company if there's a bad sales rep or two at a booth.

+1 ditto

After finding someone at Mooney who would engage pretty much it was a lack of interest after explaining I had an "F" model,; nobody offered to show the new planes to us.  I got in the Acclaim fuselage self serve and it did present very nicely.  After that, wife wanted to look at DA42’s after that and the salesman put her in the plane and spent a ton of time with her and now she is a big fan, likes the FIKI, load and perf numbers.
