M20F-1968 Posted April 17, 2018 Report Posted April 17, 2018 I thought I would share this find with the group. About 15 years ago when I started rebuilding my F model, I was looking for parts. I found a Mooney windshield wiper kit complete with STC and drawings, new in its box. I bought for novelty sake given its rarity. Some pictures are attached. John Breda 4 Quote
Marauder Posted April 17, 2018 Report Posted April 17, 2018 What a trip down memory lane. I'll bet it can be used on other airframes and some classic plane owner may be looking for one. Quote
DonMuncy Posted April 17, 2018 Report Posted April 17, 2018 I can't believe anyone would even contemplate windshield wipers on a plastic windshield. My bet would be that it would be scratched within a short period of time. Quote
bradp Posted April 17, 2018 Report Posted April 17, 2018 DId any of the earlier Moonies come with glass? Quote
Marauder Posted April 17, 2018 Report Posted April 17, 2018 John -- I pulled up the STC (SA2-1533) and it looks like it was used on a number of airframes. I'm willing to bet that you can find a buyer for it. Quote
aviatoreb Posted April 17, 2018 Report Posted April 17, 2018 (edited) I love it! well my airplane (as did many of ours) had ash trays which I think are even stranger in an airplane than windshield wipers. and a sky phone and a radar altimeter (inop) and a loran and ... gasp... and adf?!!! Mooneymite Posted April 17, 2018 Report Posted April 17, 2018 The Mooneymite used a vacuum windshield wiper motor, but not for wipers... It was gear-not-down warning system that was activated by low throttle (high intake vaccum). As ingenious as it was...most Mites have gear up landing history. 1 Quote

carusoam Posted April 18, 2018 Report Posted April 18, 2018 Surprised it wasn’t a vacuum motor for that, on a Mooney... Most cars of the day were using vac motors... Would go well with the vacuum step... operated from the vacuum pump, not the intake vacuum.... Standby for the discussion on RainX... Best regards, -a- Quote
MBDiagMan Posted April 18, 2018 Report Posted April 18, 2018 Does it include the four way flasher kit?:) Quote
