Panel Placards Required?

I'm about to get my newly powder coated panel laser etched with the artwork shown here. I'd like to ask the forum if there are additional placards that are needed other than the RPM restrictions and the ELT warning. This is for a '66 model E. The avionics going in have no requirements that I'm aware of. GTN650, GMA340, Icom210a, KT76a, JPI 830, garmin G5, KI206 CDI. My existing panel had a truncated minimum TO/landing checklist on a sticker that was on the panel, but I'm thinking that is not required. Time is short and your feedback is appreciated.

All required plackards should be listed in the Limitations section of your POH.

There are a number of required placards. Some of them may be on the panel. I would look, as Peter suggests, in the POH to see if they are listed there. When Bruce Jaeger did my interior, he had with him a large number of placards that needed to be installed. Was surprised since some of them had long been worn off my plane. My avionics shop moved them or replaced them. They included the checklist one, the ones for the ram air and cowl flaps and another one for RPM limitations.

Check the NOTES section of the Type Certificate (2A3).

Definitely get the most recent POH for your bird...

The more recent the POH The more complete the actual placard section will be.

Not sure if an E's POH is going to be modern enough for the placard graphics of a modern POH...

Take a look at the J's POH to see if there are additional ideas that may make sense.  This would be beyond the required placards...

This may sound cheap but I found that sticky paper (Avery 5165 at Office Depot) labels works really well. You print them on Word, cut them out and paste them. They look like factory placards. You can choose any background/text color. I found them very useful for printing list of FBOs frequencies so the lineman is there when I arrive.  I replaced the old fuel selector placard with them and added a sticky clear plastic film for added protection. For exterior label I use the 1 inch P-touch label maker. They hold better than the factory decals. See attached some of the placards  made.

I had the exact question you have now when I redid my panel.  If you pull up the TCDS from rgl.faa.gov the required placards are referenced.  Many of them are silly but since its part of the Type Data, best you put them somewhere.  Last thing you need is an argument with some future IA you will hire someday.  I'll look for a picture of my panel and send it to you.

I use a company called Aerographics. They do a great job and they are very customer oriented. Highly recommended. I am redoing my breaker panel and I just ordered a set of custom decals for the breaker panel.  US$ 20 not bad.
