Raptor05121 Posted July 8, 2017 Report Posted July 8, 2017 Has anyone ever replaced all of the SCAT in the C model engine bay with orignal cowl? I see what I think is about possibly 20+ feet of 3" and then maybe 5 feet of 1". Replacing it all. Can anyone confirm? Quote
RLCarter Posted July 8, 2017 Report Posted July 8, 2017 Can't confirm for the C, but when I did my E there were 3 different sizes used, it will definitely clean up the appearance under the cowl. Quote
MIm20c Posted July 8, 2017 Report Posted July 8, 2017 Mine used around 8 feet of the scat-8 (2") for the cabin heater run FWF. Mine is not original but 20 feet sounds like a lot. Quote
TheTurtle Posted July 8, 2017 Report Posted July 8, 2017 if you find scat in your engine bay you should look for mice. 2 Quote
Jim Peace Posted July 8, 2017 Report Posted July 8, 2017 All this SCAT play is making me a bit uncomfortable......... Quote
carusoam Posted July 8, 2017 Report Posted July 8, 2017 All the tubes in my C got replaced including all the heat hose in the cockpit.... It was measure twice and buy once.... It isn't terrible to have too much or too little. Adding length to the tube may not be ideal, but it can be done... getting access to the tubes is a pain.... Best regards, -a- Quote

cctsurf Posted July 12, 2017 Report Posted July 12, 2017 Looks like you might want to take a look at Mooney Service Bulletin M20-110 (http://www.mooney.com/en/sb/M20-110.pdf) about your oil lines still running through your doghouse, next time you change them out. Quote
smwash02 Posted July 13, 2017 Report Posted July 13, 2017 I replaced all the SCAT in the entire plane 3-4 years ago and this was my order: 33 0 05-29905 SCAT-5 DUCTING 1 1/4" 6.700 221.10 22 0 05-29908 SCAT-8 DUCTING 2" 7.550 166.10 The 5 is the stuff through the cockpit, which was CAT and crumbling. Also in the cockpit are a couple SCAT8 of no more than 2-3 feet total. I probably have 5-10 feet left of the SCAT8 from my work and I had to replace the long one because it rubbed on the exhaust. 15 feet would probably give you enough to do it with a buffer for error. Though looking at your photo you might have a different configuration from me. I only had 3 runs to make FWF. ~1', ~5`, ~4` conservatively. Quote
carusoam Posted July 17, 2017 Report Posted July 17, 2017 Sorry to report... Scatman has flown west, my friend... https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scatman_Crothers Best regards, -a- Quote
carusoam Posted July 17, 2017 Report Posted July 17, 2017 See if GB, our silicone tube and seal guy needs a new appellation... He could be the new Scat man... Best regards, -a- Quote
