A fun day today. I was able to take Teresa a copy of the new Flying Magazine featuring Pia Bergqvist Mooney Manny, and Artcraft Paint who painted him. Artcraft has painted over 60 Mooneys including two of mine. Congrats on a wonderful article 6-7 page article about this family-owned business! Located in Santa Maria, CA.  Check out the current issue of the magazine for a comprehensive article on protecting your Mooney with a quality paint job.  Both Maggie and Manny will be on display at AOPA Camarillo, CA coming up April 28-29th. Artcraft will have a booth there too.

Both gorgeous paint jobs! I see the one on the right at Camarillo every day! It is one of my favorite color schemes I've seen on a mooney. Is the owner on here?

The light blue one of  the right is Jolie's E. She started the thread and posted the pictures . . .

You are talking about Pia's airplane at CMA, just outside the Cafe.  She is not on MooneySpace.

Hi Hank,

I believe the light blue (turquoise blue?) plane on the right in the photo up above belongs to Pia, the writer from Flying Magazine and is the subject of the article.

Best wishes,

John

It's not exactly original to praise ArtCraft but I'll add my happy experience to the mix. ArtCraft painted my 1979 M20J over 6 weeks between April and June. Coincidentally, I visited their shop as part of my research tour on the same afternoon as when Jolie Lucas was their for the subject of this email thread. Attached are before and after pictures.

What I liked about my experience:

- They displayed obvious familiarity with Mooneys

- They completed their work on time, within one week of the promised date

- Communications were good during the process, even despite National Guard duty of one of their key staff members

- Their quote was in the middle of the shops I'd priced out, but because they did not nickle/dime me on incidentals such as minor fiberglass and metal repair, I believe my final price would have been on the cheap side of the distribution.

- They "did the right thing" without my asking (or paying) for it: They applied sealant to the edges of my windows and windshield, and replaced rubber trims where cracked.

Anyway, count me a satisfied customer.

Yes, Maggie is definitely Jolie's bird (on the left).
