The Dukes boost pump failed and my A & P has selected a new Weldon Pump supplied by Aircraft Accessories of Oklahoma. The new pump charge is  $1,672.59 with a $500 core reimbursement depending on the condition of the old pump.

Is anyone familiar with the compatibility of these two pumps? The Weldon is a little longer than the Duke. Any advice? I am concerned that the fuel pressure will be correct with the new pump.

 

Advice anyone? Anyone have a spare boost pump?

The Weldon is the right way to go. It is a continuous duty pump and is pretty robust. I spent a lot of time talking to the poor Weldon guy at Sun N Fun. He didn't have one of those sexy booths.

My Weldon was installed in the late 90s and has been going strong since. He reassured me these pumps are built better. Also mentioned something about the impeller blades being different (but in a good way).

The big step was continuous duty.  Most likely a materials or design change in the impeller that allows for it.

PP knowledge or the info I gathered reading the MS threads.

been there you need the right weldon pump or it will not fit!!

18006A IS THE RIGHT ONE. 

I replaced mine 2 years ago. had dukes rebuilt and now it is rated continuous duty too.

have dukes as spare. Right weldon pump is simple swap no changes made.

What makes the Dukes rated continuous duty? I haven't heard of that

I had a Weldon installed two three years ago and it works great. 
 
Sorry my ignorance, you have a manual turbo? What does it mean?


I believe manual turbos would be the RayJay turbo-normalizing charger with a manual wastegate installed on the IO-360.

Rajay had aftermarket STC kits for those long ago. Manual wastegate with a "second throttle" knob in the cockpit to engage the turbo when you wished...typically after climbing a few thousand feet.

The company that now rebuilds them uses seals and other parts that permit continuous duty.

I'll have to look up where I had it done but is in another thread here somewhere.

AEROMOTORS did the OH.
