  1. I suggest Don Maxwell of Maxwell Aviation. They fixed mine and returned it in a week.
  2. I am making a "stab in the dark". I have a 1968 Mooney M20C will a Garmin 430 and an Accutrak II auto pilot which does a great job following my track on the Garmin. I would love to get an add on altitude hold parts and installation if that part of the equipment is available. I talked with Jerry of the Brittain company soon after the owner passed away and he was helpful in adjusting the equipment on the bench through an FBO he worked with but I have not found the equipment add on I need to do the altitude hold on the Brittain system. Anyone have the parts or suggestions? I have just about given up on this quest for alt hold on the system but here is one last try.
  3. Anyone have a better plastic landing light cover that Lazar provides. I bought one from them which came without the screw holes drilled and the lens plastics cracked with drilling. Now I have a crack in the lens and it never really covered the light space completely.
  4. Hector,

I am interested in getting my Brittain to follow my garmin 430 waas. The P/C works well and the Brittain follows the CDI neddle on my VOR number two. Would the accuflite with heading bug DG that you never installed do this? If you are interested in selling it, let me know. I have a M20 C 1068 I absolutely love. Has Turbo and oxygen - been over the rockies in her.

  5. My Mooney Friends, The flight I chose was KANE (near MSP) -fuel stop in S.Dakota and overnight in Casper, WY. Up early to fly to Delta, Utah (KDTA) and then into Bullhead CIty, AZ (KIFP). WIth my RayJay and the plumbed in oxygen it was a blast! Cruised back to Minnesota over the mountains at 15, 000 ft and loved everything about it! These little Mooney's are a real treat! Bill
  6. Guys - Brittian was purchased and they just announced after getting the FAA clearances they will be servicing their customers on the wait list. I would look them up on the web and talk to them also.
  7. Thanks folks - great info! The idea of heading to Casper and then heading SW is also a very helpful and gives me another route also for weather considerations. Any additional advice on routing if I go that way? I usually go 3 hours at 140 Kt. each leg so any stops or navigation points suggested would be great!
  8. Howdy Mooney lovers, You gave me such great advice about my MN (KANE) to Bozeman (KBZN) and return I was able to handle well the smoke haze the last week in August 2018. Not bad for a flat lander's first mountain flying. Now I need more advice. I am planning a flight with a buddy in my 1968 M20C with Turbo from MN (KANE) to Laughlin/Bullhead (KIFP) Oct 19-23. I am looking at a more southerly route to avoid the higher elevations. Looks like a route from KANE (Anoka Airport ) through Grand Island (KGRI), another leg to Dalhart (KDHT), then on to Albuquerque area (KAEG) and V12 to Needles (EED) and into KIFP. Anyone make a similar trip or have experience in this part of the country. I am testing the Oxygen system in my Mooney next week ( plumbed in and values all test good). I appreciate any and all advice, folks!
  9. Thank you to all my advisers, what a wonderful community this Mooney Space provides. Not only did I get valuable advice to make my plans to fly my Mooney from Anoka Airport to Bozeman in late August, but I made new friends and got to email a Winona MN Mooney pilot. If there is a Mooney gathering at Oshkosh this year, I would enjoy meeting any of you attending. I have a better clarity about the challenges and the rewards of this trip and a deep appreciation for the wealth of knowledge in this community.
  10. Thanks gacoon. I am only going to Bozeman ( or if I get real confident to ENNIS - Big Sky as my meeting is at Big Sky Resort so I could go there). I am pretty sure I can handle everything but the last 50 n. miles or so as I see major mountains around Bozeman. I am IFR rated and proficient and am flying a 1968 M20C with a turbo (waste gate style) and plumed in oxygen that I have yet to use at altitude although the regulator has been tested and certified as an altitude sensitive regulator. The route you suggest is fine except the last 50 miles. Any advice around getting in and out of Bozeman which I intend to do only VFR. Or further advice about the wisdom of a flat lander going on to ENNIS (EKS) I am a flat land flyer here in the Midwest so the mountains are intimidating to me. Bill
  11. Hello Dan M20C, I also own a M20C based at KANE in the Twin Cities. I wonder if you would contact me via email as I have an opportunity to fly to Bozeman the last week of August but have not flown in Montana before. I am looking for suggestions on routes as I get into the high country around Bozeman. Or, anyone with experience flying in the mountains in that part of the country please contact me at bill@bondassociates.org Thanks. Bill
  12. I am also in the market for maintenance of my Mooney m20c Brittain Auto Pilot as the P/C system works great but the Accu_trak (sp?) auto pilot does not respond to intercept with my Garmin 430 upgraded by Garmin to WAAS and also the Garmin 345 transponder. I would love to know someone is taking over the Brittain systems for maintenance and parts. I would love to find an altitude hold to couple with the Garmin GPS and transponder I have invested in. I located an A/P familiar with auto pilots who will look at my Brittain system to see if he can get the basic tracking functions working again. One more vote for keeping this system going!
  13. I found an answer for my M20C for my Ipad mini. This works well - developer is a Mooney pilot who did this for him self but will make them up for others. I just got it last week and found it to be very good. Bill Bond. Below is the info. Tablet and Smart Phone Yoke Mounts A different kind of yoke mount! Our new Yoke Mounts are now available in limited numbers for your vintage Mooney. Our yoke mount provides quick and easy installation and removal of your tablet. The mount is easily installed on your vintage Mooney yoke in place of the clock. Custom versions are available. See Tablet Yoke Mount page for details.
  14. By the way, I have a 1968 Mooney M20 C with a manual turbo...below is a photo of N 6900 N. N6900N Sales Brochure.v3_Color.pdf
  15. The Dukes boost pump failed and my A & P has selected a new Weldon Pump supplied by Aircraft Accessories of Oklahoma. The new pump charge is $1,672.59 with a $500 core reimbursement depending on the condition of the old pump. Is anyone familiar with the compatibility of these two pumps? The Weldon is a little longer than the Duke. Any advice? I am concerned that the fuel pressure will be correct with the new pump. Advice anyone? Anyone have a spare boost pump?
