just read a nice article on the airworthiness achievement of Mitchell B25 pbj-1j done at the commemorative air force in Camarillo.  took 23 years to complete truly a labor of love.  Got me to thinking those of us that do what we can to keep our aging Mooney's looking and flying good are not much different than all the folks that work to restore the historical birds.  Our airplanes may not have a significant specific history but from an overall cultural representation of a time when GA was a real big part of this country I suppose it's important in more ways than just us flying around and converting Av Gas

This is actually kind of true. The only problem is, many people really care about what the "Greatest Generation" did during WWII, but they just don't give a damn about what they did after WWII. We are on par with the guy that lovingly works to preserve and maintain the 1963 Plymouth Belvedere in his garage. It is history and we are the custodians of that living, physical history, it's just very few people in the general population care about that history.

DaV yep sadly history is being left behind.

History has a way of erasing it's tracks as it goes along.
