I've been lurking for a while and read most every post on Mooneyspace it feels like. Thank you everyone for the wealth of knowledge here.   In any event I figured I would post a few pictures of the new bird.  This is after gutting the entire interior, redoing the seats, new one piece windshield and touch up paint, powder coating yokes,  and making/fitting a new panel to get rid of the old shotgun style layout.

I used the FastStack Approach system to add the avionics and rewire everything which I can't recommend enough. It  was incredibly simple, plug and play technology.  Future upgrades will be as simple as plugging in a new harness and mounting a tray. I plan to put a Garmin 430/650 something or other in place of the terra boat anchor when funds allow, but it works fine and will stay for now.

Very nice looking.  A mod which should be on the top of the list is shoulder belts.

The shoulder belts are high on my list.  I've been trying to find a used set at a reasonable price but will eventually break down and purchase new if i have too. I am not sure why the prop tops are red, the engine and prop lived in a Cessna 180hp conversion at one time so possible painted to match that plane.

1. Finding a local CFI with Mooney experience wasn't easy.

2. Now that I've found 2 getting on their schedule is even harder.

I am waiting for transition training before I fly as a low time pilot I want to take things slow and methodical until a point where I am confident.

There is plenty written regarding seat belts.  Most that we're going to be added were probably done five years ago or more.

They are an important part of surviving what happens after being on the ground.

buying used seat belts is possible, but the webbing would best be updated.

Check with LASAR to see what versions they have.  They have the standard and probably the inertial real type.

Congrats on capturing a good bird!

Best regards,

Alpha Aviation has new front belts as reasonable as they come, 329.00 per seat for fixed strap and 429.00 per seat for inertia reel style.

Shoulder harnesses on both front seats were a high priority for me as well, rear belts no longer matched (color) which made them a high priority for the wife, rears were ordered the day after the fronts came in. :D

After I bought my E I got in touch with MAPA and Bob Cabe called me, flew to KBPT (commercial) whence I proceeded tp fly him back to KSAN with many different airports along the way to include KERR. After 11 hours of flying I flew back home solo with my insurance sentence served and my new complex endorsement. It was a great couple of days.

The Vintage Mooney Flyer lists a number of Mooney specialist CFI/Is. good reading and free.

Since then I have done a few FR's with the local FBO ATP wannabes who have never flown in a Mooney and there is a difference.

I was able to find an ATP that flies for the regionals who did her commercial and CFI training in a Mooney, and also happens to live local to my airport. Her friend also has a Mooney, J I think which she flies occasionally. Hopefully once our schedules align the skies will open up.
