Any Mooney owners in Central Texas willing to show me their bird?

Hello,

I've been a lurker to these forums and others for some time, and this is my first post.  Are there any Mooney owners in Central Texas willing to show me their bird?  I've been flying for 3 years and most of my time is in a 172 flown out of GTU.  I really want to move up to a faster aircraft, and a Mooney (J or earlier) seems like a great aircraft for me.  I've been drooling over them for a while, but have never even sat in one.

Are there any Mooney owners in the Austin / Central Texas area who wouldn't mind showing me their aircraft?  I'd be happy to buy you lunch, take you up in my 172, etc.

Thanks,

Matthew

I'm sure there are others with a J or earlier closer to you, but if You can't make it work, plan a short flight up to Dallas Executive and see, sit in and possibly ride in my K.

Welcome to the forum Fischer.

Careful what you wish for. Get on Marauder's bad side he may show you his bird and a whole lot of something else. :):)

That being said, I am sure you will be able to catch a ride or at least a tour in your neck of the woods. I am much like you, puut puutting around in the rented 172 and can't wait till I can stretch my wings and fly.  Good luck.

Welcome aboard.

Go to Kerrville it is not that far from Austin and test fly a new one.  :D

The last time I flew in a 172 was to go pick up my 1st Mooney and a 182 for my 2nd Mooney.

Don't get me wrong I like the C brand planes that is what I learned in. They just do not fit my mission right now.

I make cheap gas runs to Taylor I used to go to GTU but I found out that Taylor is closer and still cross country :-)   Probably won't happen this weekend but maybe the next.

Yes, I do not know him but I have seen him over at his hangar and seen him zooming around a few times.

I'm picking up my C model tomorrow and would be HAPPY for you to see it and fly in it next time I'm in Austin. I fly into exec monthly for work. Paul Steen has a gorgeous C model himself and has a wealth of knowledge on these birds. He's out of San Marcos. I may make a flight down there soon to show him my new to me ship. What are you doing Sunday afternoon?

As Supercop said, I've got a C model based in the Austin area. Send me your contact information via a PM on this site and I'll get back to you. I'm certainly happy to take you up flying.
