Same to you Don! Hope all of you boys and girls were good this year! We all know one bad boy who won't be getting an Aspen for Christmas.

This bad boy already has an Aspen, I wonder what Santa will bring this year?

Hopefully a fuel gift card to keep the bad boy full!

A CFI friend of mine described his Comanche as a wide-bodied Mooney.  Happy holidays to all.  I'd wish a happy holiday to the more semitic Mooniacs, but its already done.

Its exactly like a Mooney, except it carries more higher, farther and faster and has more room than all the NA Mooneys.

If Santa had a gas card he would have one as well!

The first GA ride I remember was in my Grandfather's Comanche 250. I was only 6 but logged a few hours in that plane. Years later I got my HP/Complex endorsement in a Comanche 250. I'd probably own one, but there isn't as many around, not the large community of owners, and hard to find any that have modern avionics, upgrades, etc. I guess it's just easier to own a Mooney.

Yup, all true.  Its just that the Comanche does it using a couple extra cylinders and lots of complexity, while the Mooney does it with simplicity and efficiency.

Not quite sure I argee.  While a Mooney may have a slight fuel efficiency advantage, it gives up a lot in other areas.

The cabin is much smaller, payload is generally less.

A Comanche is just as happy on grass as asphalt.

The cylinders on a IO360 cost twice as much as the ones on O/IO540. The engine overhauls are equal in cost, the parrallel valve series engines are less prone to case cracking and are generally more reliable.  Comanche engines use the same oil filter and two more quarts of oil and has only 4 extra spark plugs to clean.

The Comanche cowl allows for easier pre flight inspection, and is easier to removed for maintenance.

The landing gear systems are just as reliable, both have issues with gear transmissions.

A fuel leak in a Comanche is a simple bladder replacement, a mornings work.

Comanches don't have the corrosion issues like Mooney's.

Both are loved by their owners, I've owned both and still do.

-Mooneys are cozier and more family friendly.

    - Grass.  Yucky.

   - M20C - parallel valve cylinders and fewer of them!

The Comanche cowl allows for easier pre flight inspection, and is easier to removed for maintenance.

   - Fewer cylinders + carburetor simplicity = less maintenance (I hope- knock wood)

The landing gear systems are just as reliable, both have issues with gear transmissions.

-Johnson bar transmission = shoulder rotator cuff  (you may have a point here...)

A fuel leak in a Comanche is a simple bladder replacement, a mornings work.

   - As I get older, my bladder isn't what it used to be, either.  I feel your pain, Clarence.

Both are loved by their owners,

  -AGREED!

that is so fake.  I can believe there is a santa, but there is no such thing as a tail wheel mooney.

It used to be straight, but with 400 HP it started to bend!!
