Congratulations Joe,

This is a great time to be alive, isn't it: life is good. Wishing you many more years of flying. Hope to catch you one day at KAPA. Go there all the time. Maybe breakfast or lunch at the cafe?

Andy

P.S. My worst war story is at KAPA. Three go arounds before landing. Seemed like 0 gusting to 30…My 3 engine failures seemed like a cake vs that  day. Turbulence over and in front of the mountains is something else.

Thanks, Andy. Would be great to meet you at Perfect Landings some time!

We definitely get some interesting weather out here, and it changes rapidly. I remember one time about 5 years ago I was flying with my CFII one summer afternoon, working on my BFR and IPC, when a dark cloud positioned itself over the field and started dropping virga. A Citation ahead of us on short final executed a go-around due to a sudden, 25 knot wind shear; obviously a microburst was developing. We aborted our approach from 7 miles out. The tower closed the field for 15-20 minutes and we held about 15 miles to the east until everything cleared up.

It would be my pleasure. I'll PM you next time we're heading that way. Breakfast at Perfect Landing is always a blast watching the students do touch and goes. My wife loves that place. I think we're going to be out there the week of the 12th but we haven't decided if we're going to fly or drive as we're heading to Estes for a whole week and want to drag the dogs with us. Buddy is getting long in the tooth and I feel the flight might not do him any good to spend 3 hours unpressurized.

Congrats and I hope you get 20 more a qualify for the Wright Bros Award as I did this last year.

Started at KVNY renting C150s for $10/hr WET! Lot of money when you were 16 and making $1/hr pumping avgas for $0.55/gallon!.

How times have changed in half a century as in flying an airplane that was new back when I graduated HS. 1964 M20D/C

51yrs later and now retired with 7 type ratings its been quit a ride but wouldn't change it for the world.
