This is an original pic with no writing anywhere to be found. The center planes nose art reads ( LITTLE JOE MILLER ) I would love to find the family of the pilot(s) . I'm sure the would love to have it as a keepsake. Anyone have an idea?

Thanks

My daughter in law found it at an Amish flee market . Little joe miller! That's the money question, I know I would love to come across a pic of my father from the Army Air Corp. I notice they have the drop tanks attached so perhaps this is a actual mission.

I believe this is the lead plane

serial number 44--12089  a Model P-51K-10-NT .

I think the number two plane in your photo is a R tail also, with the prop tips of plane one blocking the view a bit. But I am not totally sold on the name.  Could the middle word be a letter X ?

Regarding the tail letters

Each pilot was assigned an aircraft and the tail was lettered with the pilots first initial of their last name, after the twenty six letters of the English alphabet were used the Greek alphabet was used.

C is for Jerry Collins plane named “Lady of the Sky “

C is also o for Lt Louis Edward Curdes   plane named "Bad Angel"

so it could be a Pi....and the letter could be a duplicate.
