Anyone installed a KT-74 or TT21/22 with GNS430W / 530W as a WAAS source ?

KT76C to KT74....  7 hours including changing my Circuit Breaker, installing Air Speed switch, and updating software on my 530 and 430.  This was a complete install with KT74 tray to give me traffic on 530 and audio alerts...

I wish I knew how to do this stuff. I think it would be fun to do and less expensive. Anyone know of any resources out there to learn avionics?

Update: Precision booked my install for next Tuesday for an incredibly reasonable price. WOW. Epps wanted $2,500 (that didn't include taxes or the $500 IFR Certification!!!!). And as of August 1st, they are no longer working on Mooneys.

I was charged much less than the quotes I've seen tossed around here. Precision let me drop it off in the morning and wait. Took them until evening but I was their first mooney.

how is the Audio alert working out ?

I am hesitant to connect it

I only use the traffic and  like it so far.  I am not sure if I would ever use the altitude alert feature.

what traffic warning does it give you ? the install manual does mot describe what traffic generates an audio alert and I am worried it would create so many in a class B that I would end up .... ignoring all of them

It says" Traffic" for very close aircraft within a certain range.  I was not able to find out what the range is yet.  I have a GNS530W connected to KT-74.

I flew around the SF Bravo over the weekend and only got three alerts.  The alerts are not ADS-B based.  They are TIS-A (?) from the Norcal radar.

The traffic alert is generated by GNS530 not the KT-74.

congrats on your install

for what it is worth, you can get a report on how your system is working:

http://www.faa.gov/nextgen/programs/adsb/

email the FAA your N number, GPS WAAS type and ADS-B transceiver type and they will send a pdf report on your systmen

Nice to know everything is working as advertised

Hello Irish Tiger,

Do you get your traffic (TIS-A) on the map page or only in the traffic page on the GNS430?

I followed the Garmin instruction for Traffic on GNS 530 integrated with Garmin 330ES transponder but don't get the traffic on the Map Page.  I can get a small window in the data field that show the traffic within a few miles.

I did get the report as OR75 recommends above and all was good.  It is good to know and document that FAA found it to be compliant.

Hi guys, can anyone share a installation manual of KN74. I like to install with a GNS 430. But still confusing about RS232 in/out format. Is is aviation on both end or something else please?
