The 30 minutes is based on the average time it took 100 FAA employees to complete the form.

Finishing that form in less 30 minutes could get you in trouble with the union.

how do you know this is a valid OMB No. ? I bet it takes more than 30 minutes to figure that out!

The time based is for the average c172 pilot to complete the form. Mooney drivers do things a lot faster!!!

The interesting thing about the renewal process is that you MUST wait for the letter from the FAA with your number that authorizes you to renew your registration !. 

I got my letter,  completed the online process and received my new registration within a week !!..  They finally got something right.
