Chimpanzee Posted February 4, 2014 Report Posted February 4, 2014 The "strap" that you pull on to close the door (not the locking handle), has been replaced by the previous owner with an ugly chain in ugly plastic cover. As I am finally going to glue and reinforce the plastic panel on the door side, I am looking for a replacement "strap" Unfortunately I have no idea where to get one, and what is is actually really called. Any ideas out there ? Cheers Norbert Quote
Bob - S50 Posted February 4, 2014 Report Posted February 4, 2014 Ours ('78J) has two screws holding it in place. We had a local leather craftsman make us a new handle out of leather and used the existing screws to hold it in place. Just an idea. Bob Quote
TTaylor Posted February 4, 2014 Report Posted February 4, 2014 There was just a thread on that., search forums for door handle or door strap. 1. Aero Comfort, price in threads is about $20. 2. Find someone local to make on from leather. 3. Go to local craft store and make one yourself (I did that). 4. Make it out of aluminum. Quote
cliffy Posted February 4, 2014 Report Posted February 4, 2014 You might find a leather belt at Wally World that could be cut to fit $10? Quote
The-sky-captain Posted February 4, 2014 Report Posted February 4, 2014 A local furniture upholster did both of my straps for $10. They turned out great! Quote

I then took it to a local upholstery shop where I selected the pleather fabric to match my interiors. They actually had a stronger material for what was wrapped around with leather. You can get this done for under 10 bucks. Quote
MtPleasantFlyer Posted February 5, 2014 Report Posted February 5, 2014 I found a REAL leather belt at the Goodwill and burned the Mark 21 logo in it. Sorry the pic is a little crappy. 2 Quote
jetdriven Posted February 5, 2014 Report Posted February 5, 2014 I just got both of mine from hector. It was 30$ I think and it has a nylon strap sewed inside it so you can pull on it. Quote
