Joe Zuffoletto Posted January 31, 2014 Report Posted January 31, 2014 Well, they're rooting for the wrong team, but this is still pretty cool: http://flightaware.com/live/flight/BOE12 http://blogs.seattletimes.com/today/2014/01/boeing-747-8-tracing-giant-no-12-across-eastern-washington/ Meanwhile, Lockheed Space Systems here in Denver is about to launch a missile to shoot that plane down! GO BRONCOS!! Quote
1964-M20E Posted January 31, 2014 Report Posted January 31, 2014 I guess this is real I double checked flight aware. They should have been tracing a flour-De-lis for the Saints. Quote
carusoam Posted January 31, 2014 Report Posted January 31, 2014 12 th man!!! (1) Boeing folks have a sense of humor. (2) GPSS is working well. -a- Quote
Mikey30V Posted January 31, 2014 Report Posted January 31, 2014 If Denver still had the HGM-25A Titan Is at Lowry AFB . . . The section of the "1" just above the base is over what is left of the Hanford Works! Quote
N201MKTurbo Posted January 31, 2014 Report Posted January 31, 2014 I worked for CBS for the 1989 Super Bowl in New Orleans. I arrived with my Mooney at 6:00AM three days before the game. I landed at Lakefront airport and they parked me with my tail in the corner of the ramp fence. We planned to leave early the morning after the game. We got up at 6:00, checked out of our hotel, got some breakfast and headed for the airport. When we got to the airport the Mooney was behind about 1/4 mile of biz jets! I asked the folks at the FBO to get my plane out. They thought that was funny. We finally got airborne at 4:00. 1 Quote
carusoam Posted January 31, 2014 Report Posted January 31, 2014 The local equivalent will be Teterboro... -a- Quote
Hank Posted January 31, 2014 Report Posted January 31, 2014 Go Broncos!!! Ya'll have fun flying between Philly and NYC. Navigate carefully . . . . Quote

Hank Posted January 31, 2014 Report Posted January 31, 2014 Yves, it was probably a spellcheck issue. My iPad doesn't like "Fleur," it suggests flour, flier and fleer (?) as replacements. Besides, south of the Great Lakes, not many of us can spell or pronounce French properly, what with all of the silent letters. Rereading this, I had to retype your name, automatically changed to "Yes." I really, really hate the way that Apple changes what I type unless I happen to notice their tiny little box . . . At least Droid puts multiple spelling suggestions in a noticeable location and leaves it to me to choose one or ignore them. With apple, I have to type, reread and change as required to eliminate their undesired auto-replacements. Like just now, I really wanted "reread" as entered, not "retread" that Apple gave me! Quote
yvesg Posted January 31, 2014 Report Posted January 31, 2014 OK Hank. i don't have that problem on my iPAD. I guess the spell checker is off for me... Thanks. Yves Quote
Seth Posted January 31, 2014 Report Posted January 31, 2014 I was at the NCAA Final Four and Chapionship in New Orleans in 2012. I flew my Mooney also to Lake Front. When I arrived for departure the morning after the finals, it was chaos. I had purposefully asked to be filled up upon arrival so that I would not have to get in line for gas, but it still took a good hour and half just to pay for fuel. There was a departure control going on, so I called up the frquency, and was told that I'd get my clearence in 30-45 minutes - that was just to get my IFR clearence to then be able to turn on my engine and taxi. I powered down and turned my radio only on about 30 minutes later. i got my clearence which was about an hour and a half later than that for my window for departure. I asked if I could depart VFR, and they said yes, but I could not pick up this clearence once airborne. It was a VFR day and I was flying first to Atlanta and then to DC (visit a friend for lunch, now dinner). I took the chance and said I'd depart VFR. I got permission to contact ground, quickly started my engine and, got permission to taxi. I got in line for takeoff and about 20 minutes later got airborne. About halfway through my trip I filed a pop-up IFR plan and picked it up somewhere over Alabama toward PDK in Atlanta. I'm sure Teterboro will have similar takoff gate controlled slots. Get there early, get on the radio and get your slot early, and be ready to sit a while. Though Teterboro is right there, as in right there, it may make sense to fly into an airport close to one of the railroads and just not have to worry about the hassle of dealing with the traffic at Teterboro and taking the train in from another region close by. Linden I'm sure will be packed, but there's the NJ railroad stop just a 5 minute cab ride away. I'm sure there are other options as well. Or just fly to Teterboro! -Seth Quote
fantom Posted January 31, 2014 Report Posted January 31, 2014 Same experience trying to fly out after the Daytona 500.....Mooney is dwarfed by heavy iron 1 Quote

I live almost under the VOR approach to KNEW just SE of the HRV VOR the day before the super bowl there was one biz jet after another going into KNEW flying over my house. Pretty neat I’m just glad I was not going flying that day. The next day I left from another New Orleans airport to go to SAV and ATC kept me below 4000 until I was almost to Gulfport. Quote
fantom Posted January 31, 2014 Report Posted January 31, 2014 The USAF will have beautiful representation at the Super Bowl, even if supporting the wrong team http://nypost.com/2014/01/29/air-force-first-lieutenant-is-also-a-seahawks-cheerleader/ Quote
isaacpr7 Posted January 31, 2014 Report Posted January 31, 2014 That's awesome. I was actually supposed to be one of the pilots on the lead CH-47 flyover for this even but I gave it up to a coworker who loves football. I grew up in PR where there is no football so I figured someone like him might enjoy this once in a lifetime opportunity. The only sport I follow is MMA and I don't forsee any flyovers happening for this sport ever in history, LOL. Quote
yvesg Posted February 3, 2014 Report Posted February 3, 2014 Joe, very sorry for you about the outcome of the game. We are not followers here but decided to watch the game. I offered my wife to pick the team she wanted and I picked the other to cheer for. She picked the Broncos.... I hoped to see so e cheer leaders... did not see any... :-( Yves Quote
Marauder Posted February 3, 2014 Report Posted February 3, 2014 That game was pathetic to watch... Unless you were a Seahawks fan. I wish it was more competitive. Pretty sad when you fast forward so you can watch the commercials. Quote
Joe Zuffoletto Posted February 3, 2014 Author Report Posted February 3, 2014 Yeah, that was like our ugly losses of yore. Very disappointing but the Seahawks were the much better team. Quote
