I probably turn down more flying with others than I care to admit too or think about; work, work, family, etc. But on my last day off of work until mid January, my good friend/ Mooney partner/CFI needed to relocate the Pilatus he flies full time to Atlanta (PDK) from Houston... count me in !! I yanked my 9 year old out of school and off we went. What a cool plane to fly !! High 200's- mid 300's  in cruise, and darn near mooney approach speeds. Nothing better than a little turbine/ifr/x-c time on someone elses dime, it has the Honeywell Primus Apex Avionics, so cruise time was pushing buttons/clicking the mouse and seeing what it's capable of.  We all have United benefits, so hopping a flight home was convenient, but not near as fun. Now if I can just make it out to fly mine.....

I keep telling my wife: when I win the lottery, I'll get a Pilatus.    But of course, I'd actually have to buy a lottery ticket to win.  ;)

I would be torn between the TBM and the Pilatus. If tonights numbers come through I could do Both! $221,000,000 after taxes could buy a lot of airplane toys. What If.... pick 5.... F8F, TBM/PC12, L39, H16, Rocket 305.

I'd like to see a PC-12 do mid-300 knots cruise. 280 tops. Usually more like 270. Should I win tonight, it will be a King Air 250 for me ;-) Something I can still fly myself when the weather is nice, and something I can kick back with a drink in the back when I'm feeling tired and lazy.

WHEN I win tonight I will keep my rocket, get a TBM850, and something yellow on tundra tires, and something yellow on floats, and something yellow on skis.  And a helicopter.  And a place downtown NYC to land my helo on the roof.  Or maybe near the dock on the Hudson to pull up in my yellow thing on floats.  I will keep the helo and one of my yellow things on floats at Westchester county where I will access it with my TB850.

Oh - everyone here is invited to my place after I win for the fanciest Mooney/TBM850/yellow thing on float fly in ever.

....hmmmm....it might be hard to win if I don't play...maybe I need to play.

Will any of the yellow things on floats have a round engine? Enquiring minds need to know what to look for!

Well - I was thinking yellow piper cub - but yes, you are right - a rich guy needs something with a round engine after all.  Can I have it both ways?

Can I have it both ways?

I'm not who you need to be asking that . . . ;-)

But a rich guy needs to have his playthings, so get several. Keep one at each home and a travel machine to migrate between them. I'll house sit for you somewhere without snow, and keep the cars and planes washed, waxed and properly exercised. Most unfortunately I cannot assist you with obtaining playmates.

Are we still talking about airplanes?

If you win the megamillions, I'd strongly recommend applying the three Fs rule: if it floats, flies or fornicates, rent it, it's cheaper in the long run ;-)

Well - I didn't win - but I will write down your advice and think about it for next time.
