Hi All,

Because of the generosity of Dr. Ron Dubin, we are holding the first Mooney Summit on Feb 7-9th in Panama City. The purpose is to help better the breed and a social event for Mooney pilots and their spouses. Wings credit seminars will take place along with scheduled IPC's or BFR's, Shopping, dining, pampering  and beach activities are available for the non flying partners.  The cost of the event is free, but the space is limited. If you would like to participate, please read the enclosed invitation and follow the procedure to sign up. I look forward to seeing some of you!

Drinking, carousing, partying, hanger BS'ing, flying lies, making fun of MS folk who aren't there (especially dents and bird men), CamGuard full body rubs, occasional "shrinkage' in cool FL waters, full flap landing and TO flap departure demonstrations, NO grass or sand landings, Maxwell speedo modeling, and most importantly what happens in Panama Beach stays in Panama Beach, except for maybe a post of two here. :)

The Red speedo contest is up for grabs, as DMax hasn't committed (has not said no, just trying to figure out his time schedule). Ill work him over some more Wed when Im back in Longview. Besides, maybe its time someone else won the speedo contest :)

Asl may provide a pint of camguard as a door prize (they have been asked, we will see) Ill probably have to promise them we will use it in an engine and not for massages.  Navstrobe lighting has come thru already.

Should be fun...Gary, I don't see your reservation :) Better call Bridgette and Git R done...

Wow!  I can't believe it.  The "Mooney Event of the Year" and I actually have those days off.

Now, if we can just get the February weather to cooperate.

I'm not sure who Dr. Don is....but thanks to all those putting this together.

I called her several times over the weekend, and finally talked to her this AM. I'm on the 14th floor, and plan on bringing libations to the party....think Scotch and Tequila (not CamGuard).

I'm hoping Peter will join us from NJ and offer free dental exams...of course I'm way too smart to let him near me with a drill, or a wooden mallet. :P

As many people know me informally as Rocketman, my name is Ronald Dubin and am working with Mike Elliott whom I recently met during a recent BFR and Instrument Competency checkride in PCB recently. We discussed having a safety and social Mooney Summit in Panama City Beach and I agreed to offer my units to the Mooney group at my expense (only cleaning fees which goes to the rental agency-not me). I live in Northeast Tennessee and recently purchased these units over the last few years during the recession and want to make these units available to my Mooney friends whom largely I have never met or talked to personally. Why: for two reasons a} because I can and B) because I think this will be a great educational and social gathering of Mooney minded people.

For those of you who do not know Mike Elliott, he is a Mooney specific CFII and loves to teach. He also has some experience in putting together events like this and we both agree that Panama City Beach would be a great venue for this. Its a relatively new airport with a 10,000 foot runway with a helpful FBO, and typically nice weather during this time of the year in early February. It is also a few weeks before the beginning of Spring break so there won't be any spring breakers here which normally begins on March 1 (sorry to all you single Mooney pilots).

If successful, I wouldn't mind a bit contributing my condos to future Mooney events in PCB. Mooneys are my passion and hobby. If you have not read any of my past messages, I own a 1982 201 (since 1989), a 1980 Rocket and a 1994 Bravo which I recently purchased a few months ago. I love everyone of them and fly them regularly. And if you can keep this a secret, I would buy a fourth Mooney if I knew my wife would not divorce me if she found out I did! Well, I can't take luck that far so I'll stick to the three I have.

In any event, please try to join our group on February 7-9. I think it will be a fun and educational time. Our social meetings will be at my 15th story Penthouse (5800 SF including the large roof top balcony), be prepared to fly, learn, get FAA wings certification, and most of all, have fun. The price is cheap, cheap, cheap, except for the 100LL (which I can't help). And if you do come, just remember, all my efficiency units have a fold out twin couch which can accommodate 4 adults, so my 14 units which I offering to my Mooney family can double the number of people (families) if necessary.

See you at KECP

Ron

This is awesome!!! I just bought my first aicraft ever (M20C) and did not have time to enjoy it because I got orders to deploy to Afghanistan. Now that I am back I would love to learn as much as possible about the mooney. I think this will be a great experience. Hopefully I can get a spot in this event. I have another Mooney owner buddy that might want to tag along. Maybe we can fly in formation all the way to Panama City ;)

I would really like to come! February is chancy flying weather up here, but I can sneak down west of the mountains. I've gone to BNA at 4000 due to low freezing levels; if clear, 2500 is all it takes. It will be good to see what PCB has grown into now that it's no longer the Redneck Riviera. New airport, too!

Hank, you should shoot past Warner Robins and race me down to Panama City. I'd really like to go. Probably wouldn't be too hard to sell the wife. She wouldn't turn down a weekend at the beach.

That'll work if'n I can get across the hills. It's a significant detour if I have to stay west of Knoxville. Maybe this time I can make a good landing in Perry . . . The last time I was low and wide right on the first try, then landed long fighting the crosswind. But the aircraft was reusable, so I shouldn't complain too much.

My wife is already on board for a weekend at the beach! Fuel + cleaning fee and food is hard to pass up. That makes it $800 cheaper than a MAPA PPP, and I already have two of their excellent notebooks.

A lot of guys at the fbo were surprised to see you landing because the winds were so bad that day. When will you know if you're coming down? It's a short trip for me, so I'm 90% sure that I'm going down for at least a day.

It's on my calendar, but weather over the mountains will be the determining factor. At least I'll have the option of deviating west over flat land. The joys of winter flying . . . I'm allergic to ice.

That last trip was interesting all the way from FXE. Immediate left turn, into the clouds, thick layers all the way yo 9000'. Then I eased out of the tops around Orlando, and by the state line I could see the ground again. PXE was breezy, but lunch was good.

Thank you very much for the background and your generosity, Ron. It should be a most interesting gathering.

Please tell me you don't yank teeth for a living ;)

Rocketman's condo's are now all spoken for, however if you would like to be put on a standby list, email me signmeup AT aviating.com. There is a very high probability of being able to accommodate the first 2 or three couples that request to be put on standby within the next few weeks. That said, if uncertainty is terrifying to you, Bridgett has some relatively inexpensive condos available. There is a Groupon for condos at $69.night also. We can accept about 10 more registrations, then we will have to close the registration because of seminar space size. If you are planning to come, I need to know for our planning purposes. If I don't respond to your email immediately, its because I busy shuffling planes to and from Longview but will respond as soon as possible. Thanks everyone for the support and interest in what we feel will be a great, fun event for all.

I am not sure if this has been mentioned but send an announcement to Lela at MAPA and ask to have it put on calendar in the Log.

Great Idea, Jolie. Ill do that in a couple of days after thanksgiving. I understand they are just getting back from NYC and beginning the move to Kerrville, and am sure they are short of bandwidth right now.

I sure would like to announce you and Mitch as special guest presenters! :)
