How To Attach Thumbnails?

How do people attach thumbnail images to a post? I can't seem to figure this out, probably making it too complicated. I have only figured out how to add a photo to my gallery and then attach that to a post.

 

I'm sure this is something easy but I searched the Help and forums and couldn't find this anywhere else. Would appreciate some enlightenment. Thanks!

If you're attaching to a reply first click on "More Reply Options" button below message area. You can then select a pic from your computer ("choose files") and then "upload". 2 steps.

Actually, it seems to have changed a little, just one step. Select the file and it should upload, When upload is finished add another file if you'd like and when you are finished hit "add reply".

I think you go here to create the image: http://www.visitedstatesmap.com/

And then you make it part of your signature in your profile.
